Book Blogger Insider Tag

Hello everyone! Sorry about being absent the past few days, some exciting stuff has been happening recently. I’ve decided to apply for a job at Barnes and Noble and life is becoming a bit hectic right now, which is awesome because I’ve just felt like doing everything lately. Bookstagram, this blog (how’re you liking the new look?), BookTube, etc. I just like making myself busy. Continue reading “Book Blogger Insider Tag”

Your Favorite Music Book Tag

Hello everybody! Today I decided that I’d do another book tag (as I am currently procrastinating from writing a book review…). This tag I was actually tagged in and I was tagged by a book blogger friend, Debbie from Debbie’s Library. Not only did she tag me in this, but she was the creator of this tag as well! Continue reading “Your Favorite Music Book Tag”

The School Subjects Book Tag

So today I’m back with a tag to do! And this time I was actually tagged by somebody to do it. I was tagged in this by Twin Reads, so let’s get right on into it! Continue reading “The School Subjects Book Tag”

Does Popularity Mean That I’ll Like It? Tag

Hello everybody! I’m back today with a tag that I was tagged in by Debbie over at Debbie’s Library. Y’all should check out her blog if you haven’t already. This tag is a bit on the negative side, as I will be voicing some of my unpopular opinions on books. I don’t know why but I like talking about books I didn’t like. Anyway, yeah. I am at 186 followers on this blog and this will be my 99th post! That’s amazing! If y’all could try and get me to 200 followers before the end of the week, I may have something in store for you (Giveaway *wink wink*) so without further ado, let’s get on with the tag. Continue reading “Does Popularity Mean That I’ll Like It? Tag”

Who Am I? Tag

Hello peoples! (I hope you love the picture I used as my featured image, I just had to it’s hilarious). So this tag is not a book tag (and doesn’t really have anything to do with books at all) but I decided that I’d do it anyway. Why, may you ask? Well because this tag is about me as a person and I kind of feel like you guys know my interests in books by now and all of that, but I still feel like you don’t know me much as a person. I saw this tag done on Life and Other Disasters, so make sure to check out Kat’s post as well. I wasn’t tagged, but I thought you guys might like to learn a bit more about me, so here we go! (But before I start this, you may want to get a beverage or a snack because this post ended up being way longer than I intended it to be).

What is the meaning of my name?

I assume you mean my real name, and not my blog name, or at least that’s what Kat did. Well my name is Savannah, and *Googles my name real quick* apparently is just the name meaning an open plain. Gosh I knew about the Savanna in Africa but I thought maybe the name for a person would mean something different. I’m Native American and the website I’m currently reading at the moment says that the name Savannah comes from the Native American word “Zabana” – which still means open plain.

What is my Myer-Briggs personality type? [LINK]

It’s quiz time! So I took the quiz and my personality type is Advocate (INFJ-T). Hmm… I wonder what that means. My role is Diplomat (laughs) and my strategy is Constant improvement. Here are my more in-depth results:

  • 87% Introverted

“Introverted individuals prefer solitary activities and get exhausted by social interaction. They tend to be quite sensitive to external stimulation (e.g. sound, sight or smell) in general.”

  • 71% Intuitive

“Intuitive individuals are very imaginative, open-minded and curious. They prefer novelty over stability and focus on hidden meanings and future possibilities.”

  • 54% Feeling

“Feeling individuals are sensitive and emotionally expressive. They are more empathetic and less competitive than Thinking types, and focus on social harmony and cooperation.”

  • 56% Judging

“Judging individuals are decisive, thorough and highly organized. They value clarity, predictability and closure, preferring structure and planning to spontaneity.”

  • 52% Turbulent

“Turbulent individuals are self-conscious and sensitive to stress. They are likely to experience a wide range of emotions and to be success-driven, a perfectionist and eager to improve.”

I actually think this is pretty accurate. The introverted part hit the mark perfectly and I fit the intuitive description pretty well. I do think I’m more competitive than sensitive, but I do appreciate when a group of people can get along well and cooperate with one another without conflict. At first I was a bit offended when it said I was 56% judging but the description does sort of describe me. I like to know what’s going on in a situation and I like when there’s a plan laid out in front of me. I also rarely DNF books and I always have to finish a TV show if I’ve started it, so the closure part is right as well. Turbulent does describe me too because I try and strive for perfection even if it takes longer and stresses me out in the process.

What is my Zodiac Sign?

I’m a crab (Cancer). I don’t believe in astronomical signs and all of that stuff, but I’ll take a look to see what mine says. The Cancer element is water, and I guess I like water. I mean, I drink water all of the time. I’m not all that much of a fan of the ocean, though. Or at least not swimming in it. The zodiac sign color is white. Isn’t white not classified as a color? Oh well. White’s simplistic and is basically a blank canvas with a lot of potential. The days for Cancers are Monday and Tuesday. I don’t really like those days all that much, but they are the earlier days in the week which kind of goes with the entire white color. As in a fresh, blank canvas. As a Cancer, I am apparently most compatible with Capricorn and Taurus. Well my best friend is a Taurus, so that’s somewhat true.

My lucky numbers are 2, 3, 15, and 20. I don’t know if that’s actually true or not, but I do think that most good things come in threes (The Golden Trio, Team Free Will, etc.) So now let’s see what my strengths, weaknesses, likes, and dislikes are…

  • Strengths: Tenacious, highly imaginative, loyal, emotional, sympathetic, persuasive.
  • Weaknesses: Moody, pessimistic, suspicious, manipulative, insecure.
  • Cancer likes: Art, home-based hobbies, relaxing near or in water, helping loved ones, a good meal with friends.
  • Cancer dislikes: Strangers, any criticism of Mom, revealing of personal life.

Okay so let’s break this down a bit (this is where it gets long). So it says that I’m tenacious, which is true when I really want something. And it also says I’m persuasive and when I was younger I used to always persuade my mom to get me something. It’s not like I was all that spoiled or anything (like I never asked for a lot of stuff or expensive stuff) but if my mom said no to me, I would somehow find a way to get her to say yes. I don’t know how manipulative is a weakness, I mean I seemed to use it a lot when I was a child. I don’t think I manipulate people though, I try and be honest with people and speak about things how they are. I do love how the word imaginative keeps popping up because that is so true! Not just because I read and enjoy writing, but also because when I was younger I would always play with Polly Pockets (because I hate actual dolls) and My Little Pet Shop and I would always play with them making them talk to each other, giving them names, relationships, jobs, just entire lives, really. I also used to love watching people on YouTube make videos of them playing with their My Little Pet Shop because it was like watching an episode of my favorite Disney TV show. Oh god I don’t know why this is unveiling so many memories from my childhood, or why I’m even typing this all down.

I’m loyal, which I think is true. Like when I know a character in a show or in a book is good, but then they take a turn for the worst and everybody thinks they’re the bad guy, I know that they really aren’t. I stick with that character until the very end.So apparently I’m moody, emotional, and sympathetic. This goes with the quiz that I took earlier because it said that I am 54% feeling. The thing is, I can get moody and emotional, as well as sympathetic, I just don’t show those emotions to people. I know people say it’s unhealthy to keep all of your emotions in, but I guess I have just done it my entire life and it’s normal to me by now. I have a difficult time expressing my emotions – not really because I’m shy or anything – I guess it’s just become a habit. Now I guess I’m suspicious when it comes to reading books or watching TV shows because I am usually able to tell if there’s something off about a certain character. Insecure, however, I don’t know. I don’t think my writing is all that good but everybody around me always praises my writing ‘talents’. I do think I’m a bit too hard on myself at times, but I wouldn’t really say I’m insecure.

This is starting to get a bit long. I hope y’all are sticking with me here. So it says that I enjoy art, which goes with the intuitiveness that was mentioned earlier, as well as the imaginative bit. It also says that Cancers like home-based hobbies which I think is pretty accurate. I like being home and doing activities with my sister such as baking or crafting of sorts. It brings up water again… I do like swimming and stuff but it’s become less fun over the years for me, I guess. It’s also been a while since I just hung out by a pool in nice weather and really enjoyed myself. I do love playing games in the pool, though, that’s always really fun, and I like getting tan (right now I’m so white it’s unbelievable). I also seem to like helping loved ones and a good meal with friends. Who doesn’t like helping others? Especially the people you love. I always try and help my family in any way I can, just to make their lives easier. I do enjoy going out to dinner with my family and friends, though I usually just listened on to everyone’s conversations.

Next, it says that I dislike strangers. This is true. Though I do like examining others, trying to deduce what their lives are like, what their job is, and their interests. Basically I unlock my inner Sherlock Holmes whenever I meet or see strangers, which can be off-putting because then I’m just awkwardly staring at them without saying anything. The next one should apply to all Zodiac signs. I mean, who would like people criticizing their mom? (I almost wrote mum there for a second) I usually don’t like revealing my personal life all that much, just because I’m not that open of a person but here I am, spilling out all of my guts. Okay, that sounded gross. Let’s move on to the next question…

What is my Hogwarts House? [LINK]

I’m a Ravenclaw, duh! But let me just take this quiz first because I haven’t taken it before (and apparently it’s different than all other sorting quizzes…) Okay this sorted me into Hufflepuff, but I feel that that’s only because I’m not a mean person (I mean Cancers are loyal…) and because I wouldn’t want to take a puzzle apart after I finish it and then try it blindfolded. Like, seriously? I’d get a new puzzle to do! It would have been a complete waste of my time to put together a puzzle just to take it back apart and do it again. I’m not saying I don’t have Hufflepuff characteristics, but I’m surely not a Hufflepuff just because I chose to do the right thing on the quiz. On the Pottermore sorting quiz I got Slytherin, but I think I was kind of moody the day I took it, and every other quiz I take sorts me into Ravenclaw so I call myself a Ravenclaw.

What are my learning styles? [LINK]

So according to this questionnaire, I have a multimodal learning preference. My score was 6 visual, 5 aural,  7 read/write, and 2 kinesthetic. So this means that I learn best using multiple different techniques, which is the same thing Kat got. I think this is true because in school I’d always like it when my teacher would have a PowerPoint presentation with images and graphs as well as words, and then she’d describe some of what the things meant. I then wrote things down in my journal for me to read later and it all just worked well together for me.

Am I right or left brain dominant? [LINK]

Well a while ago I took a quiz that told me I was more right brain dominant (which means I use the creative side of my brain most) but that was a few years ago, and things could change. It says that I use my brain equally (though really it says 41% for the left side and 59% for the right side, which isn’t equal). I read the explanations behind the questions and answers and some seem logical (like the dancer part) but then the part with the drawings doesn’t. I chose the circle because the other pictures had really sharp points and the last choice looks like a ballerina in mid-pose about to get stabbed with a javelin. But oh well, I’m fine with this result nonetheless.

What is my blood type?

Is it supposed to be common knowledge for people to know their blood types? Because I don’t know mine… it may be Type A, I’m not sure.

What career am I meant to have? [LINK]

So this is probably the most important of them all. On these types of quizzes I usually get my preferred profession (ie: writer) but I’m not sure… I didn’t get my usual Hogwarts house earlier so I’m a bit nervous it may give me something the total opposite of what I want like lawyer or something *crosses fingers*.

Okay, I just took the quiz and I’m so happy because I got Writer!

“You have a skill for language, your imagination is vast and you are artistic and creative. Your brain is just overflowing with ideas, and all you have to do is get a piece of paper and share it with the world. You were born to turn words into magical stories.”

That would have been a bit awkward if I hadn’t gotten writer. I feel like it’s because I chose books to spend my bonus money on (which I love how it was a choice, usually it’s not) and because I chose Maya Angelou as the person I’d like to work with the most because she’s a poet. I was just being reasonable because a) Gregory House is just a jerkwad, whether I’d want to be a doctor or not, I still wouldn’t want to work with him, b) I wouldn’t want to work with Obama because that would require me to be a politician and that’s not happening. Ever. and then Gordon Ramsey showed up and although he’s awesome (he’s my favorite chef) I would be way too intimidated by him in the kitchen and I feel like he’d end up getting annoyed at me because I tend to work slow. And I was debating whether to choose Stephen Hawking or not, but I ended up not choosing him because although it would be such an amazing honor to work with him, I just don’t have the brains for that.

Which Divergent Faction do I belong in? [LINK]

Well a few years ago (when I still liked Divergent) I took a quiz that told me I was Erudite, so let’s see what I get now. So I’m currently taking the quiz and reading isn’t even an option as something to do on the weekend. Instead, tweeting it there. I just wanted to point that out…

Okay so I finished the quiz and got Erudite! (Yet I just had a problem spelling the faction name *sighs*). I think it’s because I chose to bring a novel in my purse.

What does my birth order say about me? [LINK]

I only just recently figured out what a birth order was, and it’s literally just the order you were born in your family. So I’m the baby of the family. Let’s see what it says about me…

Stereotype: Free spirit, risk taker, charming.

I don’t think I’m any of those. By free spirit, does spending time in my room by myself for hours reading and watching TV by myself count? I’m not a risk taker at all, unless you count creating this blog and my BookTube channel (I was freaking terrified to be on camera, you have no idea). And I wouldn’t say I’m charming, as I am an awkward butterfly, but I do tend to make jokes that people laugh at, if that counts.

“Why it’s true: Parents are less cautious. (Hey, the older ones ate the dog’s food and lived!) And they also probably have more resources than they did when starting out. “Parents are more lenient, so youngest kids tend to be less rules-oriented, and yet they still get lots of attention,” says Salmon.”

I don’t think this really applies to me. Since I am the youngest my parents didn’t really take as many baby photos of me because they had done it previously with my two older sisters but that aside, I am a goody-two-shoes and always follow the rules. I literally start having an internal meltdown if I think I’ve done something wrong.

“When it’s not: “Some babies resent not being taken seriously,” says Linda Campbell, a professor of counseling and human development at the University of Georgia, in Athens. “They might become very responsible, like the oldest, or social, like the middle.””

I do find myself pretty responsible for my age. Like I was always more mature than everybody at school and all of my friends. I was always more quiet and I never understood the trends or why everybody was always on their phones 24/7 at lunch when they had their friends right next to them. I was always the one who sat there at the lunch table and ate while just staring at everybody else with their faces glued to their phones.

So that’s it! I don’t tag anybody in this (because it takes so long to do) but if you’d like to do this tag yourself, feel free to! Just make sure you let me know you’ve done it so I can check out your post. This was probably my longest post ever, I rambled so much, so hopefully you didn’t get bored, and you learned more about me. This would actually be a really cool tag for YouTubers to do. I could see that happening, if it hasn’t been done already.

The Valentine’s Day Tag!

Hello Valentines! You are all my Valentines, every single one of you. Yes, even you! I decided that I would do The Valentine’s Day Tag, which I found on BookTube. I don’t know who created this tag, but I first saw Little Book Owl‘s video for this and decided that I’d do it. Now, let’s get on with it!

Favorite Basic Romance Plot

Hmm… I’m not really a romance reader, but I do like it whenever there’s two shy characters who end up together because I just find it adorable, and they usually have the most cutest scenes.

Favorite Classic Romance

Hmm… I don’t read classics much at all, so this will be hard. I guess A Tree Grows in Brooklyn? I don’t know, this is really the only classic book I’ve read with any romance at all. I haven’t read any Jane Austen, who I know has swoon-worthy male love interests or whatever, but I haven’t read any of her books so I can’t say any of them.

Favorite Feel-Good Romance

Ergh this is so hard! I don’t read any romance novels! I guess I would have to go with Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. I caught myself smiling so widely throughout this book. Eleanor and Park are just an adorable couple.

Favorite Sad Romance

See, a lot of people would probably go with The Fault in Our Stars on this one, but I’ve never read that, just seen the movie so I can’t pick that. Instead, I’ll go with Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. I saw the movie before I read the book and I bawled my eyes out in the theater. I never cry. EVER. But I found myself crying heavy sobs while watching the movie. I did the same with TFIOS, but it wasn’t as intense crying.

Favorite Genre to add Romance to

This one is difficult, you see, because most of the time I find the romance in books useless. I would say contemporary, but most contemporaries have romance as the big plot. I’ll go with Historical Fiction for this one because it’s nice to see what couples in the olden times would do on a date. Plus, the classic love letter sending and all of that is so adorable.

Least Favorite Romance OF ALL TIME

Wow this is hard. Can it be something I haven’t read but have just heard bad things about? If so, then I’d have to say Fifty Shades of Grey. I’ve heard that it’s an abusive and unhealthy relationship, plus I’ve heard the writing is atrocious. And the movie commercials keep on interrupting me on my YouTube binges.

Favorite Literary Couple in General

Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter series, no doubt. We got to see their relationship bloom from friendship to couple throughout the series and I love that so much.

If you could have one literary significant other, who would it be?

Yikes, this will be another difficult one! I do, however, have a list of the 5 literary characters I would like as my Valentine here. I guess I’d have to choose Park from Eleanor & Park. He’s nerdy and smart and protective and I think we’d work well together since we have the same genre of interests.

Now, this section will be the non-book related section of the tag.

Do you have a special someone this V-Day?

No, but I do have my best friend Gina. She may be a poodle but she is the best friend I could ever ask for. Plus, she gives amazing hugs.

Favorite V-Day Candy?

Well I never really liked those sugar hearts with little phrases on them because they’re hard and taste of pure sugar and nothing else, but my favorite ‘candy’ would have to be Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. And there are V-Day versions that are hearts, so it counts! And any chocolate, really.

Will you wear red, white, pink, or none of the above on V-Day?

Probably none of the above. I am wearing a pink shirt today, though. I’m not sure what I’m wearing tomorrow but I usually don’t dress up for Valentine’s Day.

Favorite Romance Movie

Well, again, I don’t watch romance movies all that often, but I would have to say Me Before You. It’s just so heartwarming and heartbreaking and cute and funny and ugh I loved it so much.

Favorite love song(s) – May have up to 4 (or more, I really don’t care, just don’t go crazy lol)

For this one I will have to go with any Ed Sheeran song or She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5. I always sang this song when I was younger, it was probably my favorite song growing up. If you asked anybody in my family what song I probably sang the most when growing up, they’d say this song. While I’m reminiscing on my childhood, I’d also like to mention Love Bug by The Jonas Brothers. I also love I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You by Elvis Presley.

Favorite thing about V-Day

Well Valentine’s Day for me has always been about getting candy and chocolate from my parents, so I would have to say that. Nobody needs a significant other when you have chocolate.

What are you doing this V-Day?

Uh… probably school. I never went out and did anything for Valentine’s Day. To be honest, I never thought Valentine’s Day was much of a big deal until this year. I won’t eat any chocolate or sweets because I don’t eat sugar during the week so I can’t say that I’ll be doing that.

So that was the Valentine’s Day Tag! I hope you enjoyed this and if you’d like to do this tag yourself, feel free to do so! What are you doing this Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comments!

The Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag

Hey everybody! Today I will be doing a book tag that I was tagged in by Lia over at Lost in a Story. I’ve very excited to do this tag because I’ve seen it done multiple times before, but this was the first time I was tagged. I’m all about zombies so this will surely be fun!

The Rules:

  • Choose 5 books!
  • Randomly set up your books in order.
  • Flip to a random page in the book and write the first two names you see.
  • Put the names in the categories listed below in the order you saw them!
  • Cry at how screwed you are…

The Books

I just chose the most easily-accessible books on my shelves, and threw in a contemporary to make it a bit interesting.

  • The Selection by Kiera Cass
  • Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
  • A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
  • The Maze Runner by James Dashner
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

The Questions

First person to die:

Celeste from The Selection. I can actually see this happening, since she doesn’t know how to fight in a physical brawl. Plus, I doubt she’d give up her heels. She ain’t getting away from zombies in those.

The person you trip to escape the zombies:

America Singer from The Selection. I actually saw Celeste’s name again on this one, but since I can’t use a character twice, I chose America, since I saw her name next. Considering how much America annoyed me throughout this series, I actually wouldn’t mind doing this all that much.

The person that trips you to get away from the zombies:

Eleanor from Eleanor & Park. Okay, I could not see Eleanor doing this. If anything, she’d help me run away from the zombies if I was injured.

The team idiot:

Cal from Eleanor & Park. Well I didn’t like Cal all that much, and he didn’t exactly seem like the brightest tool in the shed, so I guess this works. Though, I don’t know how he made it on the team with Eleanor and not Park…

The brains of the group:

Arya Stark from A Game of Thrones. I like this one, it sort of fits. Though she’s more of a fighter than a thinker, she is a good strategists. I’d trust Arya to be the brains of the group.

The team medic:

Catelyn Stark from A Game of Thrones. Well she is a mother, and mothers always seem to be able to take care of people the best. And to have her and Arya in the same group together – mother and daughter – would be nice, even if Arya isn’t her mother’s favorite.

The weapons expert:

Thomas from The Maze Runner. He’s not exactly an expert with weapons. If it was running away from things, then maybe it’d be more suited for him. There could be a worse choice, though.

The team brawler:

Newt from The Maze Runner. Okay, I think this works better than the last one. Again, he’d probably be better if it was running away from something, but I bet Newt could hold his own in a fight.

The first to turn into a zombie:

Hagrid from Harry Potter. No! Not Hagrid! Oh god… how did my team survive Hagrid, a half giant, turning into a zombie? Newt must’ve used his brawling skills to save us all or something. But also, Hagrid is probably slow when running, so we could’ve just been running away from the zombies – Thomas and Newt in the front – and then Hagrid could’ve just gotten bitten by the zombies and we couldn’t save him in time. But still… Hagrid, seriously? I wish it could’ve been the next person on this list…

The team leader:

Dudley Dursley from Harry Potter. What? How the heck did Dudley become the leader of my group? If anything, he’d be the first to die! Celeste would last longer than him! I don’t care about anybody else, our group is doomed! (Unless, of course, Arya chooses him as the next person on her to-kill list).

So we started off pretty good with Celeste dying and me tripping America in order to save myself, and then Eleanor takes a turn for the worst and trips me… and then Cal becomes the team idiot, which does make some sense. Arya and Catelyn are basically the only two people keeping the group alive and in one piece, and Thomas and Newt keep everybody – except Hagrid, who they abandoned – safe from the zombies. And finally, the worst of the worst, my team leader is none other than Dudley Dursley. That’s quite the team! The only question I have is what role I play in this team? Does everybody have a role but me?

I don’t tag anybody to do this, but if you’d like to take part in the zombie action, please do! What do you think of my zombie apocalypse team? Will we survive? Who do you think will last the longest in my team of misfits? Let me know in the comments!

Seasons of Book Blogging Tag

Hello peoples of books, readers of books, book blogger friends, all of you wonderful and amazing people! So, I haven’t posted anything in 5 days. That’s a long time without blogging for me! Plus, I had just reached 100 followers when this happened, which sucks, since I don’t want to let y’all down. That aside, I found a book blogging tag that I wasn’t tagged in, but wanted to do anyway. I found this tag on Catia’s blog, The Girl Who Read Too Much. The creator of this tag is Jordyn from J. Bookish, so go and give them both a visit.

Plus, since it’s still the beginning of the year, I think this tag is a good tag to do because it deals with the entire year through months, kind of just like looking ahead. Now onto the rules and the tag!

1. Thank the creator (so she can see all of your answers!) and the person who tagged you.

2. Begin with the month in which you have been tagged and move forward from there!

3. State the best gift you’ve ever been given after you answer the question for your birthday month.

4. Tag whomever you’d like when you’re finished.. or else you’ll be “it” forever.

5. Have fun, of course!

January begins a new year. Name a resolution you made this year and if you’ve kept it or not!

Well one of my New Year’s Resolutions that I made this year was to wake up on time by myself, but I haven’t been doing all that great with it. I’m gradually getting better, but I think it’ll take some time before I make a routine of getting up by myself, on time. And it’s still January so there’s a lot of time for me to improve.

February is the month for relationships. Name your favorite book relationship: romantic, platonic, or familial, your choice!

How could I not go with The Golden Trio for this? They’re the best of friends you could ever ask for. They’re loyal to each other even during the toughest of times, and there is nothing – not even the darkest forces on the planet – can separate them.

March is the month for luck and new beginnings. Name a book or series that you would like to re-experience as if you’d never read it.

You’re going to force me to choose Harry Potter for all of these. I’ll try and be more diverse and original with this tag, but I honestly wouldn’t choose any other series to re-experience for the first time than Harry Potter.

April is a spectacularly ordinary month. Name a book that was so over-hyped that it just could not live up to your expectations.

There are a lot of over-hyped books out there that I’ve read, but I think I’m going to go with Passenger by Alexandra Bracken for this one. I didn’t hate it, but it just didn’t live up to the massive hype that surrounded it.

May is the month when the flowers start to bloom. Name a book that was a pleasant surprise to you.

There are a lot of books that I was pleasantly surprised by, but for this one I’m going to choose The Two-Family House by Lynda Cohen Loigman. There are of course others out there, but that was one because I haven’t read much historical fiction before picking up that book and it was an ARC that I had won, and I had no idea what it was about so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I adored it by the end.

June is the time to take a break. Name a book or genre that you like to read when you just need to check out.

Any book would classify for this, but contemporaries are always a nice escape, but fantasies are as well. Can I just answer by saying “All the books”?

July is the time to celebrate your independence! Name a book that made you see fireworks. (Figuratively. Please don’t light books on fire.)

I’m not exactly sure what it means by fireworks. I’m going to go ahead and guess it has something to do with when a couple fits perfectly together. I’d have to say Albus and Scorpius from Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. Platonic or not, they are perfect for each other, and I believe there was even a line where a character said that they were “meant to be together”. Figurative fireworks exploded from the book every time Albus wouldn’t abandon Scorpius or vise-versa.

So, July is also my birthday month, so I’m going to have to tell y’all my favorite birthday gift I’ve ever received. This is very difficult, but my sister always ends up finding me the best birthday (and Christmas) gifts, so it’s really hard to pick just one favorite. I’m not sure if it counts as a gift or not, but for my birthday last year, I went to Universal Studios in Hollywood and got to spend two days at the park with my sister. The first thing we did when we entered the Harry Potter area (or Diagon Alley, really) is buy me a Ravenclaw robe. I also got a tie and scarf! I had two Butterbeers while I was there, split between the two days. I had the regular Butterbeer and then the frozen Butterbeer. My favorite of the two would probably have to be the frozen one because it reminded me of a Root Beer Float.

The Walking Dead attraction was also opening on my birthday, the day we visited, so me and my sister went through that two times (the lines were long for that since it was new) and I got to film my sister almost peeing her pants. I’d show you guys that but I don’t think she’d appreciate it.We were also able to go on all of the rides in the park (some more than once) and I’d have to say that I enjoyed all of the rides, but the Harry Potter one that’s in Hogwarts would have to be my favorite. I know that you guys would probably like pictures, so here are some (I have more, but they’re on my sister’s phone and I’m too lazy to transfer it from there, but I’ll create a post about my time at Universal if you’d like me to):

August is the hottest month of the year. Pick an up-and-coming author that you think will be the next hottest thing.

I’ll have to go with Vic James on this one. I haven’t read her debut novel yet, Gilded Cage, because it won’t be released until mid-February, but the book sounds amazing, and there’s a lot of buzz surrounding it’s upcoming release. I’m excited for this book because it has an amazing cover, the author is a debut author, and the story sounds like something I haven’t read before. Click here to read about the book!

September is time for students to go back to school! Pick a book you read for school that you actually enjoyed.

I don’t know if this is normal or not, but I’ve actually enjoyed 80% of the books that I’ve had to read for school. My favorite, though, would have to be A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. I just love this book with all of my heart and soul, and can see myself reading it over and over again in the future.

October is time to celebrate Halloween! Pick one character that you would love to dress up as for Halloween.

This is so difficult because I want to dress up as so many characters that aren’t from books. But this tag is about books so I’ll have to go with Sadie Kane from The Kane Chronicles. I don’t know why, but every time I read these books I always imagined how cool it would be to dress up as Sadie for Halloween. I guess I always just loved her sense of style and attitude, but I even bought a faux leather jacket that looks like I imagined Sadie’s to look. Plus, I think I was always a bit jealous of her and Anubis.

November is the month when we’re reminded of how much we have to be thankful for. Choose one book you’re grateful for having read and give a shout-out to the person who recommended it!

I actually don’t get recommended books that often, which is strange when I think about it, but I guess I’m just the person that recommends books to people. I went a solid 15 1/2 years of my life without having read The Outsiders. Finally, after having read a spoiler from another book (Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, if you were wondering), I decided that I would just pick up the book and read it once and for all. My sister and mom had both read it and recommended me to read it as well so I did. I loved this book so much, and then my family all watched the movie together.

December is a time when friends and families come together and celebrate. Name one book you would give as a gift.

It really depends on the person I’m gifting to, but the Harry Potter series is always a safe bet. Harry Potter has been my answer for a few of these already, so I’ll go a different route and say The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Not only is it one of my favorite books ever, but the physical book itself is just so beautiful and well-made that I think anybody would love the design of the book even if they end up not liking the book itself. Every edition out there is beautiful, and if you don’t believe me, check them out here to see for yourself.

I know I’m supposed to be tagging people, but I honestly don’t feel like doing that at the moment. Instead, if you decide that you’d like to do this tag yourself, feel free to do so, and let me know in the comments that you’ve done it so that I can check out your post.
