I wasn’t planning on writing a blog post on Halloween because honestly I’m crap at writing posts that correlate with seasons and holidays. All of my inspiration just flies out of the window at this time of year.
Anyways, I already put together a Halloween playlist for myself so most of the work is done. So I thought that I might as well make a post out of it👻
‘Thriller’ – Michael Jackson
You can’t have a Halloween playlist without ‘Thriller’. I would be committing a sin if I excluded this song. The dance, the music video, the outfits, the song, it’s all so iconic. It’s actually one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs, to be honest.
Why It’s Halloween: Zombies, the song itself gives off a creepy, sinister vibe.
‘Lucifer’ – SHINee
Here’s another iconic track. ‘Lucifer’ would have to be one of the most well-known songs in all of K-Pop. It’s also perfect for Halloween because – well – Lucifer is the devil! The song itself is also pretty intense and although it doesn’t have a creepy feel, the song gives off a powerful, almost divine vibe.
Why It’s Halloween: This song isn’t creepy but it’s powerful and gives you this feeling that I feel like The Devil would bring. Their outfits and hair styles are horrific enough to classify under Halloween costume.
sorry taemin, key, jonghyun, minho, and onew
‘Zombie’ – The Cranberries
Although the song isn’t actually about zombies, the meaning is still chilling. The music video (from the little bits I’ve seen) are chilling as well. I literally get goosebumps when I listen to this song.
Why It’s Halloween: This was actually a song written about the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington, and in memory of two young victims. The song is chilling because it depicts conflict and death. It’s also sad and laced with anger.
‘Wolf’ – EXO
The beginning lyric “Chogiwa” became a meme and joke in the EXO fandom. So most people don’t take this song seriously, but it’s not necessarily a bad song?? It’s one of those songs you should listen to around the Halloween season because it gives you chills and – werewolves.
Why It’s Halloween – They’re singing about turning a girl into a werewolf. And in the music video members are literally werewolves. Sounds Halloween-enough for me!
‘Calling All The Monsters’ – China Anne McClain
This might be a song from Disney Channel, but it’s from when Disney Channel was actually still good. I used to watch A.N.T Farm religiously – it was one of the last good Disney Channel shows. Anyways, this song used to get stuck in my head all of the time and the video itself is actually pretty cool as well.
Why It’s Halloween – Zombies, people dressed in costumes, the song itself sings about monsters.
‘Voodoo Doll’ – VIXX
This is a Halloween essential for all K-Pop fans. VIXX is a group known for their unique concepts, and ‘Voodoo Doll’ is by far one of their best. The video is a bit graphic, but there’s a clean version too with less blood haha.
Why It’s Halloween – This video is goth galore; there’s blood, black emo hair, thick eyeliner, and twisted witchcraft.
‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’ – Blue Oyster Cult
This has to be one of the best Classic Rock songs ever – it’s dark and chilling to the core. The vocals harmonize nicely and everything is soft but also daunting, like the Reaper itself.
Why It’s Halloween – It talks about not fearing the reaper. The writer of the song said “I was thinking about my own mortality. I wrote the guitar riff, the first two lines of lyric sprung into my head, then the rest of it came as I formed a story about a love affair that transcends death. I was thinking about my wife, and that maybe we’d get together after I was gone.” It’s a chilling, sad, and happy song about immortal love for the mortal.
‘Full Moon’ – Sunmi
I just watched this video/listened to this song for the first time for this post 1) because I’ve been loving Sumni’s recent releases and 2) because I wanted to add another female artist to this list. This video/song didn’t disappoint! The video actually scared me at the beginning haha.
Why It’s Halloween – The video itself portrays Sunmi as some sort of ghost/vampire I guess and she’s visiting her (past?) lover, I guess? It’s creepy too, so there’s that.
I hope this post was spook-tacular enough for you🎃 I have an entire playlist of songs for Halloween on my iTunes that you can check out HERE! This playlist has all of the songs from this post as well as some others! If you aren’t in the Halloween mood but want to be, listening to this playlist will surely get you in the spooky mood.
Have you heard any of these songs? Did I mention any of your favorites? Are there any songs you always listen to around Halloween? Let me know!

Oh wow, how did you find it? It took a while of being into K-Pop for me to discover it.

I heard about it through Simon and Martina/Eat Your Kimchi YouTube channel. But honestly, I don’t even know how THAT channel got on to my radar. I don’t think I ever went out of my way to search K-pop, but I’m glad I discovered it.

OMG YES LUCIFER. One of my favorite K-Pop songs if you ask me, and I think this one might have been the one to introduced me to SHINee. It’s either this one or something else… I completely forgot the name.
I noticed Monster by EXO on your playlist and I think that’s a must as well! I have not heard of VIXX though, so I’ll have to check them out when I get the chance.

Lucifer is ICONIC! It’s the first Shinee song I heard too. (was the song view? replay? 1 of 1? colorful?) Yasss Monster is definitely a must hehe (though I should’ve included Monster by bigbang too….) Vixx is AMAZING!!! They’re the kings of concepts in K-Pop so they have loads of beautiful videos and their songs are unique to them.
