One of my favorite parts of K-Pop would have to be the music videos. Whether it be the complex ones that fans have millions of theories for or just wonderful choreography or visuals or a mix of all of the above, I always love them. There’s something about K-Pop music videos that always reels me in and has me coming back for more. For whatever reason, I always find myself going back to re-watch these music videos. I hope that y’all will enjoy this post and maybe watch some of them and let me know what you think 😀
quick note: i have so many favorite k-pop music videos so let me know if you’d like a part 2 because this post will be missing a lot of my favorites
also note how a lot of these music videos might solely be on this list because i love the songs
Blood Sweat & Tears – BTS
Why I Like It: I’m a huge fan of music videos with amazing choreography as well as a gripping story/hidden meaning. Blood Sweat & Tears delivers on both aspects. The choreography is fast and complex and the hidden meaning is shoved right in your face but it’d go right over most people’s heads. It’s just absolutely brilliant and the production quality is top-notch.
You Might Like It If… You’re a fan of music videos that are easy to watch, but don’t ever leave you disinterested and bored.
This Music Video Has: Amazing visuals, choreography to die for, vocals to send shivers down your spine, intriguing hidden meaning.
One Shot – BAP
Why I Like It: This music video is seriously like watching a movie. It has a gripping story-line, as well as dancing (they literally do push-ups in their choreography, it gets hardcore), mixed in with a song that has Yongguk’s deep voice (which I mentioned here) and… Youngjae’s high vocals? (Sorry, I still don’t know all of their names).
You Might Like It If… You enjoy action movies.
This Music Video Has: A kidnapping, shocking plot twist, blood.
Very Nice – SEVENTEEN
Why I Like It: I think that the Very Nice choreography has to be one of my top three favorite K-Pop choreographies EVER. That alone mixed in with the suspenders, killer catchy song, and their hearts getting blown up from all crushing on one girl makes the video a lot of fun to watch.
You Might Like It If… Slick choreography is your thing.
This Music Video Has: Long-haired Jeonghan the superior jeonghan, catchy rhythm, fantastic dance moves, 13 guys falling for one girl.
Monster – EXO
Why I Like It: The freaking cool choreography you should expect from EXO, the mask that (Lay? Is that Lay? Or DO?) is wearing, the song which first got me into K-Pop.
You Might Like It If… You like the gangster-bad boy look and amazing choreography.
This Music Video Has: A+ choreography, face piercings and blood, wonderful vocals, a kick-butt rap sequence.
Beautiful – MONSTA X
Why I Like It: Choreography that makes me want to start dancing, Kihyun’s high vocals, Jooheon’s opening, the visuals, the first Monsta X song I fell in love with.
You Might Like It If… Pretty boys dancing and sitting in rooms surrounded by pretty shiny things are your thing.
This Music Video Has: Jacket-throwing, top-notch vocals and rapping like you’d expect from Monsta X, Minhyuk sparkling like the sunshine he is.
Crazy Sexy Cool – ASTRO
Why I Like It: It’s so much fun just like you’d expect from an Astro music video, the choreography is cool(I’m just a sucker for great choreography), and the music video as a whole just feels magical (anyone else get a Harry Potter vibe from the beginning?)
You Might Like It If… You’re having a bad day and you need a smile on your face.
This Music Video Has: Slick choreography, a fun story to match the fun song.
Spring Day – BTS
Why I Like It: THE AESTHETIC, THE VISUALS (no, it’s not the same thing), THE SONG, THE STORY, THE VOCALS, EVERYTHING.
You Might Like It If… You have properly working eyes and ears.
This Music Video Has: Pink-haired Jimin (yes this had to go first, i loved this pink hair on him even if he did kinda look like cotton candy), the pastel aesthetic we all aspire to have, Yoongi rapping on top of a pile of dirty clothes and making it work because he’s Yoongi.
Shangri-La – VIXX
Why I Like It: Visuals, dance with the fans, the random peacock and deer, the slow-motion hanbok dance (was that a hanbok? i think it was).
You Might Like It If… Slower songs but also fast-paced (I really don’t know how to describe this) are more your style.
This Music Video Has: Graceful dancing with fans, Ken looking like a – well – Ken doll, mystical atmosphere.
Wake Me Up – BAP
Why I Like It: The message of the song (it’s about depression) and how the music video represents the way people feel when they deal with depression is really powerful. It’s also a topic not talked about in K-Pop, like, at all, so it’s nice seeing it represented like this.
You Might Like It If… You’re looking for something that’s powerful and moving, but not to the point where you feel overwhelmed.
This Music Video Has: Non-Koreans (which is pretty rare in a kpop mv, as you’d expect, but it might have the underlining meaning that depression is something that everyone, no matter the color of their skin, deal with depression), Yongguk with curly hair, a sort of “rebellion” that is really just the depressed breaking through their depression (my interpretation).
I really hope that you guys enjoyed this post. I am working on more book-related posts, but they’re just taking me a lot longer to write than they usually do due to me being busy with school and just overall lacking motivation. So posts will still be few and far in-between.
i also haven’t finished a single book this month, so i have no reviews to write but lots of books to finish *sigh*

What are some of your favorite music videos? Any you think that I would like based on the ones I mentioned in this post? Let me know!

I first fell into k-stuff through dramas, but I recently watched and immediately fell in love with NCT’s Baby Don’t Stop and I’m in extreme danger of falling down the kpop hole too, oops. I’ve checked out a few other songs since and Blood, Sweat and Tears is definitely a favorite, along with Mic Drop, DNA and Fire. I love EXO’s Ko Ko Bop, Power, Overdose, Wolf and Monster too, and NCT’s Cherry Bomb, Boss and 7th Sense but my top fave will be Baby Don’t Stop for quite sometime at least. Taeyong is just…argh. Also, in case you need some kdrama recs, here’s my list of faves: https://trakt.tv/users/notyourhijabi/lists/the-best-of-k-dramas ❤

Did someone said Kpop?? *appears out of nowhere* I agree with Monster omg, I will always watch the video whenever it appears, the concept is just so cool!! They are all wearing black and the leg dance thingy during the reff JSUT SOO GOOD!!! I thought the masked one is Sehun? But I’m not sure tbh the mv is pretty dark it’s unclear ahaha. I would say Suju’s Black Suit is also really good, everyone looks really good in it and I love the story 😀

Waiiit it seems to be Baekhyun xD I’m so confused! But it’s definitely not Chen or DO… I need a 6 minutes video for Monster!

Hahaha – I aspire to be able to do the leg dance thingy one day! I don’t know the members too well and it is dark so I have no idea xD I love Black Suit as well!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! No better way to spend time than by watching k-pop music videos and these are all just so amazing. I am still not over the beauty that is Spring Day (cotton candy Jimin! And Yoongi can sit and rap on dirty laundy all day, I would not stop watching) and Blood Sweat and Tears is the first k-pop music video that made me fall in love with them and made me spend a LOT of time on Youtube watching them all. Monster and Beautiful are just so awesome and I hadn’t seen Very Nice yet, but I predict a TON of rewatches 🙂 I’ve recently been rewatching Thanks by Seventeen a lot (because the choreography <3) and Black on Black by NCT 2018 (it's more performance video than music video, but damn that choreo! Okay I have a weakness for choreos obviously)

SPRING DAY IS SO AESTHETIC – i would legit watch yoongi rapping on a pile of dirty laundry is that’s what he decided to do in every music video xD You will love Very Nice – especially since you’re a sucker for choreography. I still haven’t seen the Thanks MV?? I keep forgetting urghhhh – I just watched Black on Black the other day and the dance (and synchronization omg they’re like an army) is MIND-BLOWING!

I feel like they don’t either compared to how long they’ve been around for. Vixx yasss I LOVE THEM SO MUCH – I’m a VIP, I just missed a ton of videos cause I didn’t want to make this post super long haha – my favorite mv of theirs (granted, I haven’t seen them all lmao I’m such a bad fan) would have to be Let’s Not Fall In Love

Yay! I’m glad you checked out BAP!! I love those videos as well. I think you mean Daehyun’s high vocals, just so you know– his high range is just… WOW.
Have you seen/heard Angel also known as 1004??? OMG, hard to watch but so beautiful and one of my favorites. It hurts since Himchan is my favorite. I love that little diva.
I haven’t watched too many BTS videos, but I think my faves are DOPE and Boy in Luv.

Yeah it must’ve been Daehyun, sorry – I don’t know their names quite yet haha. I don’t think I have – I might have heard the song, but I’m not 100% sure haha. Dope and Boy in Luv are pretty awesome as well – I’m just a sucker for aesthetics so BS&T and Spring Day always wins for me haha 😀

I was just letting you know ^_^ no worries.
It has been so long since I’ve watched MVs, I’ll have to check out BS&T and Spring Day… perhaps when my reading list is not as demanding (my tower of books out from the library is quite scary atm).
If I can give some suggestions: I Remember by Bang Yongguk, Lovey Dovey and Day by Day by T-ara, Some by Sohyun & Junggigo, and Story of Someone I Know by San.E.
lol I just love giving K-pop recs, there aren’t many people I know who listen to it, nor are crazy about the MVs.

My reading list is so long omg – I’ve just been avoiding it (which is something I really need to stop doing it’s become a bad habit). I’ll have to check those out – haven’t seen any of them 😀 Haha I love giving/receiving recs as well since there isn’t anyone in my real life that likes K-Pop.

Yay, another KPOP related post
Aweee, One Shot ❤ That brings back memories ❤ haha
And Spring Day, love that one so much too.
Honestly, I haven't watch lots of MVs lately, since I tend to multitask, I open youtube to listen to KPOP songs while I do something else on the laptop (there's just seriously not enough time in the day, not unless you want to sleep too)
Oooh, I'm going to check out the videos you mentioned.
Hmmm, one of my favourite MVs (haha, I dont remember a lot of MVs) is Infinite's BTD. There's not much to the storyline, but the dance choreography is amazing (they become known for their scorpion dance because of that choreography haha)

It’s an older music video but I really love it – I always find myself re-watching it. I don’t tend to watch music videos that often either unless it’s a group I like and I want to watching everything of theirs haha. I haven’t seen that one (tbh i know next to nothing about infinite)

Hahaha – since this a book blog a lot of my followers don’t follow for K-Pop stuff but also it’s all I had the motivation to write xD BAP is amazing!! They’re so underrated. They were really popular throughout 2012-2014 but then BTS came with a similar sound and people started focusing on BTS over them 😦 I love BTS to death but it breaks my heart that BAP aren’t as successful now as I think they should have (or, well, could have) been

It’s not actually the case. In 2013-14, BAP filed a lawsuit to nullify their contract with TS for mismanagement and no pay for three years, causing a long hiatus. Later they settled the agreement, but the old popularity has been long gone because of that break. TS is the worst managing company ever, all Secret members confessed that they haven’t been paid for three years, and now they all filed a lawsuit against TS.

Oh, really? That’s awful!! I hope they’ll be able to get paid from now on, they don’t deserve that treatment!
