Down the TBR Hole #16

Oh look, I’m finally doing one of these again! My schedule has been off for the past week and I didn’t finish either of the two books I wanted to before today so that I could review them so you’ll probably end up reading two reviews next Wednesday. Instead I decided to do a quick post and since I haven’t done a Down the TBR Hole post in a while I chose that! So here we are 🙂

let’s also ignore the fact that the last time i did one of these posts, my tbr was at 398 and it currently rests at 490…

If you’re newer here and don’t know what the heck Down the TBR Hole is, it’s a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Wake the Hollow by Gaby Triana

This does still sound very interesting but I honestly don’t really see myself reading it anytime soon or in the future. I feel like it’s not my type of book anymore.

Final Verdict: GO

been_here_all_along

Been Here All Along by Sany Hall

I KEEP FORGETTING THAT THIS BOOK EXISTS!! I annoy myself every time I remember it because it sounds so cute and fluffy I need to read it. Seriously. It’s time. Also, why is the Goodreads rating so low?? It scares me.

Final Verdict: KEEP

nevernight

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Despite hearing loads of questionable things about the author I do want to read this book. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it.

Final Verdict: KEEP

the_muse

The Muse by Jessie Burton

Although this sounds like a wonderful book – and the cover is the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever laid my eyes on – I don’t see myself picking it up. Anytime soon, anyways. But if I see it cheap somewhere I’ll surely buy it.

Final Verdict: GO

we_are_still_tornadoes

We Are Still Tornadoes by Michael Kun & Susan Mullen

This actually takes place after High School! Something I’ve been wanting to read more about lately so I’m definitely keeping this.

Final Verdict: KEEP

onceinatowncalledmoth

Once, In a Town Called Moth by Trilby Kent

I guess this is some sort of mystery in a small town?? I won this in a Goodreads giveaway a longgggg time ago and still haven’t read it. Since I own it, though, and since it’s crazy short it’s gonna stay.

Final Verdict: KEEP

Zhek by Andy Weir

No cover and no release date. Gahh why do I do this???

Final Verdict: GO

vicious

Vicious by V.E. Schwab

A goal for me this year is to read a Schwab book so this is definitely staying!

Final Verdict: KEEP

fantasticbeasts

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay by J.K. Rowling

I loved the movie so much. I’ll probably end up reading this close to the release of the second movie. Or just whenever I miss Newt.

Final Verdict: KEEP

Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

I WILL FINISH THIS SERIES I SWEAR! This is the last book and it’s shorter than the others so I’m planning on finishing it one day. And then I’ll probably sell all the books.

Final Verdict: KEEP

Books Removed: 3

Books Kept: 7

TBR Total: 487

  1. The only one I’ve read here is Nevernight and I think you did the right thing by deciding to keep it.

Honestly, I HATED it when I first started it; I really didn’t want to carry on with it at all. I eventually did continue, and it gets so good. My advice is to persevere because it takes a while to get into, but it is worth it 🙂

  2. ”A goal for me this year is to read a Schwab” You and me both! I’m tired of people raving about these books and me not being able to rave with them because I STILL haven’t read them. I’m annoying myself.

  3. I had the hardest time finishing the Beautiful Creatures series as well, I’m not sure why. I liked the first book when I read it, and… it sort of went downhill from there? I can’t remember why, I just remember loving the first book, then feeling a bit “meh” about the rest of the series. I hope you’ll like that last book 🙂

    1. Yeah I really liked the first book as well! But then the rest of the series just wasn’t good… like at all haha. The characters were meh, the writing was meh, the story was meh…

    1. I want to read all of her books SO BAD! But they’re always so hard to find in the bookstore and when I do they’re always expensive erghhh. Ah I hope I’m able to keep it under 500 *hyperventilates*

        1. TBR’s are bookworms worst nightmare, they’re always there haunting us. I’ve heard literally nothing but wonderful things about ADSOM so I hope you end up loving it!

  4. Ahhhh I love that Down the TBR Hole header! Also I definitely still recommend Nevernight. I own Fantastic Beasts, but it’s more like a collector’s item….because I’ve seen the movie, so I’m not likely to read the script now. SIGH. Great post, Savannah!

    1. Thank you!! Nevernight is still high on my list given the amount of wonderful things I’ve heard about it from so many bloggers. The Fantastic Beasts is mostly there to look pretty on my shelf tbh haha but I would still like to read it when I don’t feel like watching the movie.

      1. Yeeeees it’s so good! I didn’t like Godsgrave AS much, but I did still like it quite a bit. I just LOVED Nevernight. But I just tell myself that it’s because it’s the middle of a trilogy, and I usually like the middle book the least hahaha. Anyway, I hope that you love the series!

And ahhhh that makes sense about Fantastic Beasts 🙂 it is preeeeetty
