It’s the end of the year! Or, well, the first day when this is going up! I can’t freaking believe 2018 is already here… gosh.
I think I need a second for this to sink in.
Okay, I’m good.
2017 has been a whirlwind of a year. A lot happened. Most notably, I’ve become a much better blogger (please I beg you, don’t read my blog posts from earlier this year – it’s too cringe-y), I’ve started reading more diverse books, and I’m become a lot more confident in my writing.
I will (maybe) be compiling a wrap-up post for 2017 as a year, so this post will just be for the month of December.
Books Read:
Foolish Hearts // 5 Stars. SO CUTE! A book more about friendships than romance.
A Taxonomy of Love // 5 Stars. ALSO CUTE!! A boy loves girl but he’s kinda stuck in the friend zone throughout their teenage years #yikes
I feel like I should have read more books this month, but I spent the first half of the month moving so I guess it makes sense why I only read two. I have about 100 pages left in one book I’m currently reading as I write this post so I might finish that by the end of the month but I don’t know if it’ll happen.
January TBR:
Prodigy Prince is the book I’m close to being done with, and the rest are books sent to me for review via ebook.

My The Expectations of a Book Blogger post ended up being one of my most-liked and viewed blog posts ever! I wasn’t expecting it to do so well but loads of people seemed to like it a lot.
Personal Life:
I moved! So that happened. Yup. Rode in a car for what was originally going to be 16 hours, but ended up being closer to 20 due to lots of stops and breaks. I didn’t sleep for a good 24+ hours because of coffee and no matter what I can’t get myself to fall asleep in a car.
But we finally made it to our new home in Florida. The contract for the lease will be up in May so we’ll have to find another place to rent and then move there, but for now it’s nice to relax a bit and take a breather.
The weather is nice and although it makes my hair all frizzy and big like Hermione in the early years, I’ve gotten used to it already. We’ve only been there a week so far so there’s not really much to say.

Oh!! I ate Korean food for the first time! Our friends took us out for Korean BBQ and it was SO GOOD! They also played Kpop and I literally squealed when they played BTS’ Spring Day. They also started DNA but they were going to change it to something else until they saw me basically hitting my mom because I was so excited.
Right now as I’m typing this, I’m in a hotel in New York (not NYC, but the capital Albany) and it’s approximately -2 degrees Fahrenheit outside. We flew here Christmas Eve and will be flying back to Florida on the 30th.
For Christmas I got an Instax mini 9:
I’ve been wanting a Polaroid camera for as long as I can remember so I was so happy when my parents gifted this to me for Christmas! I took some pictures in the beautiful snow and might have numbed half my body from lying in the snow to get a snapshot of me making a snow angel but that’s just a small sacrifice for the art.

Sadly, the day after Christmas I got sick. This made me very angry because before I flew to New York, our friend and her kids were all sick and my mom got sick from them as well, so I ended up being the only person in the house that wasn’t sick (thank you body) but then when I flew to New York – my sister and dad were already there, they flew in a few days before we did – my sister was sick and I lasted one day before getting sick myself.
something nobody tells you about being sick: tissues and blankets become your best friends
Getting sick is such a big deal for me because I haven’t gotten sick in YEARS. I threw up like once last year and that was because I ate pumpkin that went bad. I’m healthy and my metabolism is so strong that usually I can be stuck in a room filled with sick people coughing and sneezing on me and I wouldn’t get sick. Unfortunately, the germs won this time.
My dad got sick too and as I’m writing this post we’re both still coughing (i spelled this as coffing at first?? might as well be dead, it’d hurt less) and blowing our brains out. But I’m feeling loads better than I was the last few days so I should be all healed up and healthy by the time we leave in two days.
What I Watched:
I feel like I didn’t watch much this month because we’ve been moving and such so I’ve been exhausted by the time I’d usually watch anything.
With my family we most recently watched the newest season of Netflix’s The Ranch. I feel like there was more we watched but I honestly can’t remember
The movies we watched were The Big Sick (we all loved it so much), Going In Style (old dudes doing funny old dude things), and Bright (so much potential, wasn’t amazing but wasn’t bad).
On my own I finished season 2 of Good Morning Call. I loved this season so much and I really hope Netflix renews it for a 3rd! I also finally watched more Descendants of the Sun (which my mom actually likes to watch with me occasionally!!), and Strong Girl Bong-Soon. I’m currently on episode 10/16 and loving it! Park Bo-Young is such a great actress, I loved her in Oh My Ghostess and I love her even more in this drama.

I’m also halfway through Dream Knight, a web drama that all of the members of the kpop group GOT7 are in! It’s super short so I’ll finish it really quick. I also watched a couple more episodes of Death Note.
What I Listened To:
I didn’t listen to anything in particular this month but I’m such a huge fan of Taemin now! His vocals are unique and all of his songs are so soothing. My top three that I’ve heard would have to be Move, Love, and Flame of Love.
On the topic of Kpop, Jonghyun from the Kpop group Shinee (Taemin’s a part of the group as well) passed away. Apparently he has been dealing with depression for a while and took his own life. This caused such a stir in the Kpop community and I honestly still can’t believe it happened.
It just shows how even if somebody is smiling on the outside, they could be dealing with a lot of their inner demons and you’d never know until it’s too late. He will surely be missed. The world lost such a bright star.
Happy New Year! I hope that you all end up having a great 2018. You deserve it.

I mostly am. I felt all healthy for about two days after flying back to florida but then i felt bad again. For the past two days I’ve just had a sore throat/cough/stuffy nose. My sore throat is mostly gone now.

Sending you positive thoughts. We get like that sometimes going back and forth between Arizona and Cali. The change in the weather and pollen I guess. Seems like the end of December has been bad for sickness too. I do hope you get to feeling 100% better soon! ❤

I’m glad you are watching Strong Woman Do Bong Soon ^_^
I’ve been planning on watching Oh My Ghostess soon… maybe this month then haha.
Ugh and Jonghyun T_T how incredibly sad. I’m not even a huge fan of Shinee, but I was a fan of them as people… unbelievable.
Sounds like you had a pretty good month, I hope January treats you well!
