The Bookish Naughty List Book Tag

I was tagged by Lia @ Lost In a Story to do this tag! I’m very excited to do this and it’s very last-minute since today is Christmas!! (Not when I’m typing up this post but when this goes up it’ll be Christmas and I’ll be in New York – yay!)

So the only rules are to check mark the things you’re guilty of doing and tag 10 other people to do the tag! I won’t be tagging anybody since I’m doing this tag very last minute.

also, since i’m an idiot and don’t know how to put a check mark, i’ll be using little snowflakes instead ‘*’

Received an ARC and not reviewed it *

I think we’re all guilty of this. I have like… four NetGalley ARCs and then one or two ARCs sent to me by authors for review so… I’m behind. But I’m catching up and my list hasn’t gotten too long. So it’s not like I received and ARC and haven’t purposefully not reviewed it, because I will get to reviewing them once I actually read them.

Have Less Than 60% Feedback on NetGalley *

My feedback is currently at 33%…

But I have an explanation for this, okay! So when I first got NetGalley a few months back, I downloaded all the titles I was accepted for at once on my BlueFire app where I download and read my eBooks that I get sent to me. What I didn’t know was that these books can expire after a certain amount of days and I can’t read them or download them again!! Apparently if I download it on a Kindle app this doesn’t happen… but I didn’t know that until after.

If there’s any way to somehow download these books again so that I can read them and increase my feedback ratio, I’d really appreciate it.

Rated a Book on Goodreads and Promised a Full Review Was to Come on Your Blog (And Never Did) *

I’ve done the opposite! I’ve said that there was a review to come on Goodreads, but I end up posting it on my blog and never copying and pasting it onto Goodreads. It’s so hard  for me to remind myself to do this every time I finish a book and review it! I don’t know why it’s so hard but I only ever remember to do it if it was a book sent to me for review.

Folded Down the Page of a Book

I actually don’t think I’ve ever done this!! finally, gosh i thought i’d have to snowflake all of these questions It is possible that I have done it a long time ago and have forgotten it, but I can’t remember so if I did do it, it was only a one-time thing and will never, and I mean never happen again.

Accidentally Spilled on a Book *

I’m clumsy, okay? I haven’t spilled many liquids on my books, thankfully, but I have eaten chocolate – something you should never do – while reading. When I eat chocolate, it goes everywhere so you can just imagine what happens when I eat chocolate whilst reading. I also once dropped my guacamole on my friend’s book…

DNF a Book This Year

Nope! Not like I have anything against people that DNF books, but I myself don’t. I push through until the bloody end (same with TV shows). I don’t like leaving things unfinished so I will always finish the books I read unless it’s really too horrible, then I’ll just be like:

Bought a Book Purely Because it Was Pretty With No Intention of Reading it

I don’t think I’ve done this this year, actually! Not that I can remember, anyway. I did buy the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Screenplay because the cover was really pretty, but I do plan on reading it sometime. When I buy a book I buy it… with the intention of reading it haha!

Read Whilst You Were Meant to be Doing Something Else (Like Homework) *

Um. Duh? I think all of us bookworms do that. It’s kind of our thing. Have chores to do? Prop up your feet and read two chapters until somebody starts yelling at you. Have an exam to study for? Let’s just take a little tiny break and… read a book or two. It’s not like the exam is that important right?

but really, you should be focusing on your schooling instead of reading, don’t take after me

Skim Read a Book *

I’ve only ever skim-read one book and that book I read at the end of last year. It was The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey and that book was SO BORING! I swear, I skimmed half of the book and then rated it like half a star… It was brutal.

Completely Missed Your Goodreads Goal

Nope! I actually read more book than my goal! I think there was one moment in the year where I was behind a book or two, but that didn’t last very long. Most of the year I was ahead of my reading challenge. Last year, I was like nine books off of my goal, but that was my first year setting a goal for myself. And I made it more than halfway so it wasn’t a *complete* miss.

Borrowed a Book and Not Returned It

Nope! But a friend of mine borrowed one of my books and hasn’t returned it… *glares*

Broke a Book Buying Ban

I haven’t had any money to buy books like… all year so I never really needed to enforce a book buying ban this year because well, there’s not really any books to buy when you don’t have money to buy them with.

Started a Review, Left it For Ages Then Forgot What the Book Was About *

This has happened more than once, unfortunately. I’ve had at least four or five books that I was planning on reviewing on the blog this year but was too lazy to write it immediately and then just never got around to it. When I actually then get the motivation to write a review… I’ve forgotten all of my thoughts on the book.

Wrote in a Book You Were Reading

Nope! Never done this! Not for school or to take notes or anything! Never highlighted anything either. I like to keep my books in pristine condition.

Finished a Book and Not Added it on Your Goodreads

I haven’t done this whilst having Goodreads. I like to keep it as updated as possible.

Do we share any of the same bookish sins? Let me know (I won’t judge, I promise)!

  1. You always seem to have the most fun tags here! Maybe I’ll do this one next Christmas, lol. I am also a person who likes to keep their books in pristine condition, so I haven’t folded pages or written in a book (well, I had one book that I bought specifically to be able to do that. But it hurt me even then XD).

    1. Thank you! I do only the most fun of tags I can find 😀 I do want to actually do something like that to try it out – maybe buy a cheap book from somewhere and annotate it – it’s something I’ve thought about but I don’t think I could actually bring myself to do it

  2. DUDE. I am SO guilty of starting a review, then abandoning it and forgetting all about the book. I have at least 15 reviews to write on Goodreads, and I have a doc where I keep notes on books & also half-finished reviews, but I just… jfaldskfjas;ldkjfas I’M SUCH A BAD REVIEWER. And I think we ALL have read while supposed to be doing something else??? Like… sleep?? 😂

    1. Well you read so much more than me! I’d be surprised if you weren’t behind to be honest. I’m definitely guilty of reading when I’m supposed to be sleeping, it’s a problem.

  3. I’m the same way with finishing books! I kind of envy the people who are able to DNF because that is not one of my abilities and I feel like I waste so much time because I’m convinced that there’s SOMETHING redeemable about this book so I just have to keep going to the end and find out! It’s pretty terrible.

    1. Yeah I do that all the time as well… but also it bothers me when I don’t finish something. It’s closure, which is why I need to finish series as well (most of the time)

  4. Ahah this is such a fun tag, I loved reading your answers for it 🙂 I’m glad I’m not the only one NOT DNF’ing books, I just… can’t either, haha I always have the hope it will get better by the end. I don’t have that patience with TV shows, though 😛

    1. Thank you! I loved composing the post 😀 It’s so hard to bring myself to DNF a book! I’ve begun to lose patience with TV shows lately. I used to HAVE to finish the show, but lately I’ve been okay with not finishing.
