My Fall Essentials // I can’t freaking believe my favorite season is back already!!

If you couldn’t tell by the title, Fall is my favorite season of all seasons. It’s the time when you are no longer sweating in your bed every night and eating popsicles just to survive another day.

I don’t like the heat. AT. ALL. And living in Texas is such a big issue when summer comes around because what even is this torture?? Why must we be forsaken with such high temperatures?

Anyway, I much prefer the cold seasons rather than the warmer ones because a) fluffy blankets b) LAYERS c) holidays and presents and everything wonderful d) it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Santa said it so it must be true
and yes I know, that’s winter, but fall and winter are buds so it doesn’t matter

I decided that I would compile a post of some of the essential things I can’t go through the Fall season without! This is anything from food to clothes to TV shows! Now, let’s begin cause I am seriously so excited to write this post it’s kind of embarrassing.

Sweaters

sweater

If you need to know one thing about me, it’s that I like sweaters. I’m not as obsessed as my sister (like half her wardrobe is just sweaters – I have 5) but I’m very particular about the sweaters I buy.

They have to reach a certain length on my arms (just long enough to make sweater paws, but not too long as it doesn’t get in the way of me grabbing stuff), they have to have a certain warmness (even though it’s cooler, it’s still Texas and not Alaska), they need to be soft (this is a must! no scratchy uncomfortable sweaters – I’d rather freeze).

ANYWAY. Sweaters are my ultimate aesthetic. Sweaters remind me of my favorite activities: blogging, watching Netflix, drinking a hot beverage, and lying down on the couch all day reading.

Pumpkin Spiced Everything

I’m not the *biggest* fan of pumpkin, but I love Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Spice. I agree that some things shouldn’t be pumpkin spiced, but some things (like donuts – OH MY GOD *drools*) absolutely should.

By far my favorite pumpkin spiced thing to have during the Fall season is the drinks from Starbucks. I know, so typical, but it’s true! Lattes and frappuccinos are my weaknesses.

Fluffy Blankets

I kinda mentioned this earlier with the sweaters, but I cannot live without blankets, okay! Even in the summer I always have to have a blanket over me when I sleep. I think it’s due to the irrational fear of something coming out and getting me when I sleep so a blanket will *obviously* protect me from all the evils of the night.

Fluffy blankets that you can just disappear chin-deep in while you curl up in bed or on the couch and just reach the highest level of comfy-ness is one of the best things ever. I don’t know about you, but I’m a person that likes being comfortable. Fluffy blankets and sweaters are a form of comfort for me.

Gilmore Girls

gilmoregirlslifestyle

Gilmore Girls is the most Fall show out there. If you want something to religiously binge in the later months of the year, I highly recommend this classic! Stars Hollow looks so good covered in leaves and Rory and Lorelai are almost always in layers anyway so it feels like you’re always in either the Fall or Winter season.

I also think I binged this with my mother in the fall season, so there’s that.

Old Disney Channel Halloween Movies

halloweentown

I don’t watch horror movies, so instead I watch old Disney Channel Halloween movies! They’re so dorky and some of them are plain bad, but they remind me of my childhood, thus I watch them almost every year.

My favorites were the Halloweentown movies, Twitches, Hocus Pocus (though I’ve only seen it once), and The Little Vampire (so underrated!)

Baking

I love baking any time of the year, but there’s nothing better than making Fall-themed treats. My sister and I make treats for our street every year for the major holidays and it’s always a lot of fun to come up with ideas on what to make.

Here’s what we made one year for Halloween (we kind of went a bit overboard):

I honestly love baking for others because it feels so good to know that you might have just made somebody’s day by giving them something homemade. You never know what somebody’s going through in their own lives and you never know how much your kindness and considerate actions mean to them.

This got real sappy really fast
Anyway, I like sweet stuff and what I like even more than eating sweet stuff is making sweet stuff

Family Time

My own family might be surprised to see this here but I do really enjoy spending time with my family. Family is the most important thing in my life besides books so spending quality time with them is always special to me. I don’t tell them how much it means to me when we just sit down and hang out together, but spending time with my family is something I value a lot.

Anyway, I really enjoy family time and the Fall and Winter seasons are more family-oriented than any other time of the year.

High Fantasy Books

I couldn’t finish this post off without something book-related! For some reason I like reading fantasy books that lean more towards the high fantasy genre during the Fall season. I don’t read creepy books so I guess this kind of makes sense, but I don’t know why it’s high fantasy… does anybody else like reading this genre in the Fall time?

  1. These are most certainly fall essentials. I’m currently in the market for finding the next PERFECT sweater/cardigan, but everything I find is made of this icky itchy fabric, so I’ll keep looking… but blankets! Mum’s pumpkin soup! The fireplace! Steaming mugs of tea! This is a glorious time and I am here for it.

    1. Awe, I hope you’re able to find the perfect sweater sometime soon! I have two – one is a Christmas sweater and the other is a Harry Potter sweater haha. I need some more as well. Sitting by the fireplace with a hot beverage/meal covered in a blanket is the best thing ❤

  2. I love fall too!! And those classic movies are some of the best parts!
I’m actually currently watching Gilmore Girls (for the first time) and I agree! It’s very fall! Maybe that’s just because there’s so much coffee involved, and that screams fall to me.

I really liked this post – If you don’t mind, I may copy this a bit and do some of my fall favourites too!

  4. I don’t like autumn much but that is only because it seems like it’s raining like 90% of the time here in the Netherlands. And I have to cycle pretty much every day to the train station… 😦 I love winter much more!
I do love sweaters (fun fact, my grandma pronounces it as sweeters haha) and being inside while it’s raining outside. I love the leaves turning different colors and Gilmore Girls! It’s definitely a perfect series to watch in Autumn!

    1. Awe that sucks that it rains all the time and that you have to ride through it! Winter would have to be my second favorite season, no question 😀 Sweeters lol that’s adorable! I love rain – when I’m able to be inside when it’s raining haha, it’s relaxing.

  5. I love fall too ❤ In Rome the autumn season tends to be really humid and rainy. Sadly I'm not super ready for fall, because I don't have many sweaters, neither in Italy we use pumpkin spice as something usual. That's one of the thing that makes me really sad. But baking, yes ❤ I cannot wait. During summer it's too hot to stay near the oven. I just can't.

    1. Baking (or cooking in general) in summer can be a real pain cause it’s so hot haha, you’re right! Ooh Italy! That’s somewhere I’d really love to visit one day. I think Pumpkin Spice is mainly a United States thing, which is something I’ve found out about just recently.

  6. This is such a cute post! It’s spring time here in Australia which is actually my favourite season not too hot or cold and the beautiful flowers! But I love fluffy blankets too and totally agree that they will protect you from the creepys of the night 😂 I also love Gilmore girls any time of year those ladies can do no wrong! 😊
