The Sunshine Blogger Award #2

I was nominated for this award by Flavia over at Flavia the Bibliophile! Thank you so much for nominating me!

The Rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.

2. Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.

3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.

4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Now onto the questions that Flavia asked me! I’m so excited to answer these 😀

What are you reading right now?

As I write this post, I finished reading Strange the Dreamer last night and am planning on starting The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue today! I’ve heard absolutely nothing but amazing things about it, so I’m excited to read it!

What was your favorite read from 2016?

Oh gosh! That’s a hard one!

*scrolls through last year’s reading challenge*

ARI AND DANTE! I completely forgot that I read this book last year *flails* Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is one of my all-time favorite books! Definitely my favorite book that I read last year!

What is your favorite read of 2017 so far?

Oh no. Flavia, why must you do this to me?? I’ve had such an amazing reading year so far and have read so many great books. I’d have to choose either The Hate U Give or The Raven King.

But also Truthwitch.
And Cress.
And I can’t forget When Dimple Met Rishi.
Or Carry On.
Never mind I can’t choose!

Do you read more than one book at once? Why? Why not?

Yup! I tend to read at least two books at a time. I find that sometimes I can get bored just reading one book so I like to have two books – preferably very different from each other – so that I have a good variety to choose from.

Do you enjoy reading classics?

I’ve enjoyed most of the classics that I have read (which, trust me, isn’t much) but I don’t find myself reaching for them all that often even though I own loads of them. I’m trying to make a goal for myself to read more classics, but I haven’t really met that goal.

But I have read The Crucible this year!
It was for school.
And I didn’t really like it…
But I still read it!
Don’t judge

What is your ideal reading spot?

Some corner with perfect lighting that isn’t too bright as to not strain my eyes and the most comfortable chair in the universe and a button where I can press a food or a drink and it gets delivered to my chair for me.

Make this happen.
I’ll give anything for it.

Do you read when you travel?

What else are you supposed to do? Well… maybe actually, y’know, immerse yourself in the places you travel to. But yes, I do read when I travel! Unless my parents tell me to get my nose out of my book and enjoy where we’re at.

But I’m a bookworm.
I can’t be a bookworm without my book.
Then I’d just be a worm.
Do you want me to be just a worm, mom and dad?

How many books do you read in a month (approximately)?

When I was in my reading slump towards the end of last year I read about 2 books a month but now I’ve been reading about 5-7! It all depends on the month and the books I’m reading. So far this month (as of when I’m writing this post) I’ve read 3 books this month.

How many books do you read in a year (approximately)?

Last year I read 31 books. I wanted to read 40 but like I mentioned earlier, I fell into a reading slump for the second half of last year so I fell behind :/ This year I’ve already read 30! Depending on how many I read by the end of this year, I might raise up my goal for next year to 50 or maybe even 60 if things go well 😀

What is your favorite genre? Why?

Fantasy, no question! I just love seeing what different authors do when there is literally no limits to what they can create and add to their story. I’ve also been reading a lot of contemporary lately, which I have been enjoying, but fantasy will forever and always be my one true love.

Do you read more during a particular season than other seasons?

Not really, I don’t think. I’m usually more lazy in the winter and I’m not as motivated to read, but there’s also nothing better than curling up with a hot beverage under a blanket reading a book when it’s cold so it can go either way with me.

This time I’m actually going to nominate people like I’m supposed to! Haha I think you all know how lazy I am when it comes to tagging and nominating people for tags and awards, but I’ve been following some new blogs lately so I’ve got some new people to tag.

I Nominate:

Scary Pear

Tia Says

An Infinite Book World

Wonderless Reviews

Fables and Fae

Bookish Poems Clouds

Roaming Reader

Books With Bex

Rimpy’s Reads

Lair Of Books

A Whisper of Ink

As always, you don’t have to do the award and answer the questions if you don’t want to, but I thought that all of y’all deserved it! And make sure you link back to this post if you end up doing the award on your blog!

My Questions:

  1. What do you hope to accomplish by book blogging? Do you have an ultimate goal, doing it just for fun, etc?
  2. What’s one thing you’d like to do before you die?
  3. If you could pick one book to hold in your hands right now, which would it be?
  4. Do you plan on going to college, are you currently in college, or have you graduated from college? If so, any tips? (Sorry, just a bit curious haha)
  5. What non-canon ship is your favorite?
  6. Have you met any authors?
  7. Tell us something you do that you don’t think anybody else does.
  8. What would your perfect vacation look like?
  9. What does your daily routine usually consist of?
  10. What’s your favorite animal?
  11. How was your day? 😀

  1. I finally read Ari & Dante this year and I absolutely loved it! Strange the Dreamer and The Gentleman’s Guide were so good too!

And oh what are you thinking of Gentleman's Guide? I thought it was great but I was also a little disappointed. :/ And AHAHAHHAA I cracked up so hard when you said that "bookworm – book = worm" thing! 😂

    1. I absolutely LOVED Gentleman’s Guide! A few minor things I didn’t care for but overall I loved it 😀 Sad to see you were disappointed 😦 Haha I wasn’t sure if people would actually laugh or think it’s too corny

    1. I try not to pressure myself too much but just read it whenever I’m in the mood (which is almost never but yeah) haha.

We’re really similar with how many books we read! In middle school I used to read 40-50 a yr but then high school happened and that number dropped to 20-30 and now I’ll be in college next yr but hopefully I can keep up with reading this fall! I’m at 30 books right now so maybe I can make it to 40… that’d be great

    1. You’re welcome 🙂 I used to read SO MANY books in middle school and elementary school! I hope I’m able to keep up with a steady number once I hit college and adulthood haha.
