Today is Saturday, my book friends, which means it’s time for me to tackle my TBR! Every Saturday I tackle my TBR by taking part in Down the TBR Hole, a weekly meme created by Lia from Lost in a Story.
I haven’t done one of these posts in a few weeks due to not having the motivation and just being busy with Camp NaNo prep. But I decided that I wanted to make sure to do a post this week for you guys to stray away from all the posts about writing.
Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy by Ameriie
I know that a lot of people don’t like it when BookTubers get published but this collection of anthologies just sounds so cool!
Final Verdict: KEEP
The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordon
I said before (or at least I think I have…) that I’ll just remove all the Rick Riordon books from my TBR until I finish the Percy Jackson series.
Final Verdict: GO
Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman
I think this book deals with racism or maybe a future society where the white people don’t have rights but the black people do? I don’t really know and I haven’t heard that many things about it but what I have heard has all been positive!
Final Verdict: KEEP
Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee
I was anticipating this book so much last year and I got it right after it came out but just haven’t read it yet… I don’t know why!! I still really want to.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Rook by Sharon Cameron
I was anticipating this so much because it was said to be a dystopian Paris but the reviews from some of the reviewers I trust the most didn’t seem to enjoy it and I always forget it even exists.
Final Verdict: GO
Happily Ever After by Kiera Cass
I consider The Selection series to be done and over with for me but I haven’t read this novella?? WHY?? This would probably take me like an hour to read!
Final Verdict: KEEP
The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey
I was interested in this a while back and it does sound interesting, but I’ve heard it isn’t very original and honestly I just forgot it exists.
Final Verdict: GO
The Shadowhunter’s Codex by Cassandra Clare
I REALLY NEED THIS BOOK YOU HAVE NO IDEA!! Once I buy it I know that I’ll read it.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Quidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp
Of course I’m keeping this!
Final Verdict: KEEP
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander
Same as the last one, of course!
Final Verdict: KEEP
My sister loves the Noughts and Crosses books. You’re right about them not being talked about much (I guess they’re a bit ‘old’?) – she’s the only one I know who likes them, haha, but they do sound good.

Awesome how your sister likes them! I don’t know when they came out… sucks that they aren’t more popular

I totally agree with BYLTHM. But even though it says that booktuber wrote some of it, it’s only a little bit. But I am still excited for it!

Yeah, they only gave the authors the prompts and then wrote an essay thing afterwards describing and analyzing it.

If you like audiobooks, you might want to try Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in that format – Eddie Redmayne narrates it in character as Newt! 🙂

I don’t like audiobooks – but, if I were one day willing to try it, that would be the one!

I NEED Because You Love to Hate Me in my life!!! I want it so bad, I’ll probably go and buy the actual physical copy even though I really shouldn’t.
As for the Shadowhunter Codex. It’s not really something to read in my opinion. Not that you shouldn’t get it, you totally should! But it’s not a story, so it’s more like something to look at?

Haha I’m friends with Whitney from WhittyNovels so I might have to just ask her if I can borrow it. Ah so it’s just one of those fun books with lots of pictures?

It has like all the runes and a little bit of Shadowhunter history and general info on them in it.

I listened to Rook and enjoyed it. It read very much like a historical fiction. There were so many twists and turns. I thought it was good but I can see where it wouldn’t be a lot of people’s style.

Although others didn’t seem to enjoy it. it’s good to hear that you did!

I like Sharon Cameron bc she wrote The Forgetting and I met her, but I haven’t read her books. And The Girl of Midnight just has a pretty cover. So those two I’m torn on but I agree with your list!!

The Girl of Midnight does have a pretty cover, doesn’t it?? I think I mainly added it to my list because of that…

Good choice with Rook. I thought I would love it and sadly it didn’t do anything for me. It was meh. And seeing a Rick Riordon book on your list reminded me that I really need to finish the Percy Jackson series as well. I’m only 2 books in!

Glad to hear I made the right call with Rook! I’m one book away from being done with the Percy Jackson series! It gets sooo good

I don’t really understand the controversy around Because You Love to Hate Me. The booktubers didn’t actually write the stories, right? It’s just their prompts?
LikeLiked by 1 person
The booktubers talk about the story that the author wrote based on the prompt they gave them. I guess people are angry about it because the booktubers are still being published cause they’re ‘popular’ or whatever and not because they ‘earned’ it.

Ohh okay. I do think that’s a bit stupid, because those booktubers have worked hard for their success. Ah well, haters gonna hate 😛

Yeah. The thing is most people don’t know just how hard it is to run a channel and whatnot
