It’s Wednesday! This means it’s time for Top 5 Wednesday, a weekly meme created by Lainey @ Ginger Reads Lainey and now hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out and join the Goodreads group here.
I am very excited for this topic! I’m writing it last-minute (I usually write my T5W posts or at least start writing them on Tuesdays) because I completely forgot it was Wednesday. Memorial Day was on Monday and it just felt like an extent of the weekend. I am part of a lot of fandoms and I’m unsure whether this will be a hard or easy topic for me because I don’t leave fandoms all that often, but let’s see how this goes!
And also, disclaimer, I will be including all sort of fandoms here from books to TV shows to movies to music!
5. Taylor Swift
I wasn’t all that much part of the fandom (I just haven’t ever been part of music fandoms – except for the Jonas Brothers) but I used to really like Taylor Swift and her music and I watched her music videos on repeat because they were all so cute and they all told a unique story. But all good things must end and once she ditched country and became a pop diva I kind of abandoned the Swifty bus. I just no longer liked her music or her music videos and found myself not caring for what she ends up doing…
4. Jonas Brothers
Like I just mentioned I was part of the Jonas Brothers fandom. My sister and I both, actually. The only concerts I have ever attended to this day were Jonas Brothers concerts. My sister was part of the online Team Jonas community and we even uploaded a regretful video for a contest (no, I’m not going into specifics, I’m having secondhand embarrassment from my past self just thinking about it). The JoBros had a good run and it’s good to see that they’re all doing well still.
3. High School Musical
This entire post is basically just a throwback to when I was ten. Yes, I was like every other ten year old out there and I absolutely loved High School Musical (at one point I think I might’ve even had a comforter with Zac Efron’s face on it… or it was Hannah Montana, can’t remember). Besides, I watched these movies on repeat all the time and to say it was an embodiment of my childhood would be a vast understatement. Now I’m wondering if it’s on Netflix…
2. Divergent
Who even is still part of the Divergent fandom? The first movie was pretty good but then the second totally flopped and I’m not even sure what’s happening with it anymore. I liked the first book in this series and the second was a major let-down and I was never even able to finish Allegiant. This series as a whole is just ehhh….
1. Once Upon a Time
I was obsessed with this show! I still have posters in my room because if this show has one thing going for them, it’s their posters. I held on tight with this show for so long because I had so much hope that it would get better but all it’s done recently is disappoint me. I think Hook was the only one keeping me sane and even he started to get tiresome. He was no longer the Hook I fell in love with. Instead he became so googly-eyed over Emma (whom I hate) and it became, frankly, annoying. He basically just became a wooden love interest. Sorry, Once, you had your chance!
So those were five fandoms that I am no longer a part of! Let me know if you have the same feelings and thoughts towards any of these fandoms and let me know what fandoms you would put on your list (or if you already have a post, don’t be scared to link it below for me to check out!)
I still love all 5 of those I am a big jonas brothers fan I still watch there shows which is silly for an 18 year old to do it made me sad they broke up. But I suppose it’s age difference that changes opinion now when you say I love jb it’s Justin Bieber back then jb stand for jonas brothers.

It is sad that they broke up but I’m happy they did because I know that they no longer felt inspired by the music they were producing and they didn’t feel like they were being their authentic selves anymore. But they’re still brothers and hang out all the time so I’m happy there isn’t any bad blood between them. I’ve liked a few of Justin’s songs but overall he’s just ‘eh’ to me.

Same here I wish they were still a band but if they did they wouldn’t be making the solo albums we all love we still see nick and Joe doing songs but Kevin ended up doing a show but I hope they do a reunion so we can hear them sing I’ve never been to a concert with them Justin Bieber does good songs but I’m prefer songs I grew up with modern day isn’t my type of music

I bet they still sing and jam together, I mean they’re brothers and hang out together all the time. It would be cool for them to maybe perform one of their songs or something for an anniversary or something.

Ahhh yeah, OUAT would also be on my list for ‘fandoms I’m no longer a part of’. I adored Hook and Gold, but I gave up on the show around when the Peter Pan storyline wrapped up. I found the plots were getting too repetitive (and looking up the plans for the next seasons, it sounds like that’s still happening, lol).

Yeah it’s just become worse 😦 Hook and Gold were the only ones I was interested in and even they have become tiresome

Boo, that’s disappointing 😦 They should have concluded that show when it was still worth watching…

I used to be SO obsessed with High School Musical omg I literally had all the merch 😂 I still love the movies to bits and I love re-watching them and listening to the songs! But I wouldn’t consider myself part of the fandom, at least not anymore! (Does a HSM fandom even exist lol I don’t think so???)

Haha I don’t know if a HSM fandom exists… I guess everything has a fandom?

I’ve been trying to figure out why OUAT isn’t keeping my interest like it used to (besides the tired story lines and predictable outcomes), and deep down, I think it’s also because I hate what they did to Hook. I don’t mind Emma, I’m kind of on-board with the Captain Swan ship, but she does get super annoying, and Hook has seemed to have lost his personality.

Hook has lost his personality! He used to be a charismatic womanizer pirate who didn’t care what others thought of him and now he’s basically under Emma’s constant control

i agree that divergent book was the best, and the rest is just awful! i used to like ouat too, and i think i stopped at season 3. it just become boring.

I’m glad you agree! The first three seasons were the best, but it did go downhill after that

When would you recommend stopping watching OUAT? I remember watching the first season when it came out and I loved it, but then I never continued watching just because I forgot to record them and I didn’t have Netflix back then. I’ve been wanting to get back into the show lately, because I remember it being so good and I have a love for fairy tale retellings, but I’ve also heard soooooooo many people say it gets tiresome after a while, so I didn’t know what season would be a good stopping point before I start wasting my time.

I would say stopping at the end of season 3 would be a good point because it started going downhill after that. Season 4 was okay but it’s when my love for the show started fading a bit.

Ohhh, OUAT. I do enjoy that show but I’m also mostly just a fan of Hook. I find Emma annoying and the storylines just aren’t as good as they used to be. But you are so right about Hook though. He’s lost his personality and turned into this weak guy obsessing over Emma. Bring back the old Hook!!!

The old Hook was the best! I am so happy you’re not the biggest fan of Emma either.

Not at all. She kind of just whines the entire time!

OUAT! God, I loved that show. I stopped watching after… 2 seasons? I’ve always wanted to go back because I love *cough* Hook *cough* the story and plot you know. 😉
If it ever officially ends I might pick it up again…. but probably not 😦

I think Hook is the main reason a lot of people stuck around because I mean, he’s Hook! I finally gave up around midway through the most recent season because I just couldn’t handle it anymore.

When I was introduced to Taylor Swift, I was about 17 and I loved the music for a long time, I still like it but I wouldn’t listen to it on repeat like I did back then. I still like Taylor though.
I liked Divergent but one of my best friends still LOVES it, but it really isn’t that good. The last movie was quite bad, and I don’t know if I even want to see the ending (because the ending sucks).
Yes, OUAT. Same here. I really loved it but now it’s such a repetition and a blur of new and old bad guys doing the same trick over and over. It’s predictable! The character development comes down to the same thing over and over again. It is that my friends still love it…

I don’t really hate Taylor but just don’t care for her anymore. I never even watched the Insurgent movie the trailer looked so bad. OUAT is SO PREDICTABLE! And the storylines are so repetitive you can tell the writers have run out of ideas.

Exactly! They overuse the same storylines. Like, take Rumple, his storyline has been repeating literally since the third season or something?
