Down the TBR Hole #7

Today is Saturday, my book friends, which means it’s time for me to tackle my TBR! Every Saturday I tackle my TBR by taking part in Down the TBR Hole, a weekly meme created by Lia from Lost in a Story. Let’s get started!

Also, last week I wasn’t sure if I should keep Witch and Wizard by James Patterson or not and I decided with the help of y’all that I’ll not read it. It’s been brought to my attention that James Patterson uses Ghostwriters and I just don’t want to support that. Plus, the rating on Goodreads aren’t all that great so I’m passing on that series.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

ruinsofgorlan

Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan

I still really want to read this series I just don’t own it yet. It still sounds interesting and a lot of people seem to love it.

Final Verdict: KEEP

thearchived

The Archived by Victoria Schwab

I want to read all of Victoria (or VE) Schwab’s books! They all sound so interesting and unique and I’ve literally heard nothing but great things about all of them! And all of her books have such beautiful covers as well.

Final Verdict: KEEP

unbecomingofmaradyer

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

I have heard some amazing things about this book, I’ve also heard some mixed things about the rest of the series. I heard it goes downhill after this first book and although this series does sound interesting I don’t see myself reading it anytime soon. I may end up reading it in the future but for now, it can go.

Final Verdict: GO

senseandsensibility

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

As I’ve said a bazillion times before, I’m keeping all the classics on here because I will get to them eventually. Especially Jane Austen because Jane Austen is a staple when you’re talking about classic literature.

Final Verdict: KEEP

aliceinwonderland

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll

Here’s another classic. I’m keeping this one as well.

Final Verdict: KEEP

the_diviners

The Diviners by Libba Bray

This takes place in the 1920s (one of my favorite centuries ever) and it has mystery and paranormal/supernatural elements to it. There’s no way I’m letting this one go!

Final Verdict: KEEP

halfblood

Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I’m not much of a fan of this cover like other people seem to be, but this does sound really interesting and a lot of people seem to love this book. It has to do with people that are half god, I believe, so that’s interesting.

Final Verdict: KEEP

anne-of-green-gables

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

I only added this to my to-read list because so many people seem to adore this series and I do want to read it some day because I feel like I’ll adore it as well, but I’m just not interested in reading it in this point of my life. I know I’ll read it one day in the future, though.

Final Verdict: GO

tigerscurse

The Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck

I believe this book has to do with Indian mythology and then someone traveling with a tiger? If so, I’m all in! I want to read this so badly and this cover is just gorgeous! I have a thing for beautiful animals on covers like this. I just have a feeling I’m going to love this series.

Final Verdict: KEEP

assassinsapprentice

Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb

I really want to get into more high fantasy and epic fantasy and this is another series I’ve heard such good things about. It sounds really interesting as well and there’s a ship on the cover and I’m a sucker for books that have ships in them (the ones that float on water, not the couple ships – though I love those too).

Final Verdict: KEEP

So that was it for this week’s Down the TBR Hole! I only got rid of two books this time which isn’t all that much but I did make some tough calls. I know that next time I’ll try and get rid of some more.

As always, let me know if you’ve read any of these books so that I’ll know if I made the right call or not!

lots-of-love

  1. I see that this is an old post, but I am getting into reviewing books and just joined Goodreads. I see that you have The Tigers Curse on your list. I have the book here and have started it a couple times but then get distracted by others. Did you have a chance to read it yet? Please let me know how it was if you did. I’m going to put it on the top of my list and maybe review it!
Thanks so much, enjoyed your post!

    1. Welcome to the community!! I haven’t had the chance to even purchase the book yet haha so unfortunately I won’t be able to tell you how it was. Hope you’ll enjoy it nonetheless 😀

  2. I’ve been wanting to read Schwab for a while now but I never got to it, I keep hearing amazing things about her books!
I’m not a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland, it’s all just weird if you ask me. I’ve read both books twice and I still didn’t understand what it was supposed to be about.

  3. The Archived is SO amazing. I just love it. And Schwab’s other books are really great too! I’m reading ACOL right now, in fact. And AGAHAG I’ve been meaning to read The Diviners! It seems like something everyone loves. Glad you were able to get rid of two books — that’s still a great number. 😛
