Hey everyone! So it’s week 3 of Camp NaNoWriMo (or, well, it was) and I’d like to update y’all on my current progress! If you missed my last posts about Camp NaNoWriMo, check out my Introduction, Week 1, and Week 2 to get all caught up!
So I’m very behind on my book at the moment. My goal was to reach 10K words by today but my current word count is 8,400. I got close but I was busy over the weekend and didn’t get a chance to write anything. I hope I’ll be able to catch up this week and get to at least 20K words (my goal is 25K) before Sunday, which is when Camp NaNo ends.
Here’s a snippet from my book for y’all to read:
“A look of familiarity brightens up her eyes that were sad only moments ago. She lifts her finger in a small gesture of a wave and I follow suit.
What was she doing here? I had never seen her here before. I was about to go over to her and possibly say something, but then who I assume to be her father glances up at her.
He then follows her gaze towards me. I turn away and push into the door, only it won’t open. I struggle and try and shoulder it open multiple times before I hear the receptionist speak in an annoyed tone.
“Use the handle, Mr. Park.”
I glance down and turn a deep scarlet, putting my hand on the handle and turning. I see the girl’s amused face as the door closes behind me.”
That was from the point of view of Junseok “John” Park, my male main character. I think I’m making their relationship move too quickly but I’m kind of just writing random scenes out and I’ll have to add in some transitional dialogue or descriptions.
I didn’t outline the plot all that much which gives me the freedom to do that and it helps me write quicker and lets me worry a lot less than I usually would following an outline.
That’s all for this update. I don’t think I’ll be able to complete my goal by the end of the month, but I’ll just try and continue writing as much as I can and see what happens.

I love the snippet! Good luck on trying to get to 25k, that sounds very hard, so I think you can need all the luck you can get 🙂
I’m attempting to get as far as I get before Thursday, so I’m going to try to write over 5k in the next three days, which is a lot and I’m stressing out a little because classes just started again and I’m already overwhelmed by everything I need to do this week. I’m not giving up though! I’ve gotten this far and I’m going to finish it, no matter what.
