Down the TBR Hole #4

Down The TBR Hole

Hello everybody! I hope you’re having a wonderful Saturday! Since it’s Saturday, it’s time for me to once again tackle my TBR pile! This meme, Down the TBR Hole was created by Lia from Lost in a Story (pstt… give her little blog a read), and feel free to join in if your TBR is larger than life like mine is!

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

betweenshadesofgray

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

I really want to read this book because I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it (plus it’s Historical Fiction which I love). This is a no-brainer.

Final Verdict: KEEP

hugo_intro_cover

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

Another Historical Fiction that I’ve heard nothing but great things about! I’m keeping this. I still want to read this just as much as I did in 2015 when I added this to my TBR.

Final Verdict: KEEP

the_immortal_rules

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

The thing is, although I really want to read this book – and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it – I honestly don’t see myself reading it in the near future. Maybe some day, but not today.

Final Verdict: GO

shadowandbone

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I will read this, you guys! I will! I will read this series and then I’ll read the Six of Crows duology and I’ll be caught up with the world! It will happen one day! Trust me, I’m just finishing a few series before I dive into any more.

Final Verdict: KEEP

lady_midnight

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I’ll get to this as well, I just feel like I need to read The Infernal Devices first and The Bane Chronicles (I know I technically probably don’t, but I want to). For not it’s just looking beautiful on my shelf.

Final Verdict: KEEP

prideandprejudice

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Just another book on my long list of classics I still need to read… I will get to it one day, though! I promise! I’m just waiting for the right moment to arrive so I’ll be able to completely favor it.

Final Verdict: KEEP

falling kingdoms

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

So I am actually planning on buddy reading this with Julia from That Bookie on YouTube. We plan on starting this some time next week and I’m really excited for this one because it’s been on my TBR for so long!

Final Verdict: KEEP

the demon king

The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima

I’ve heard such amazing things about this book (especially from Regan from PeruseProject on YouTube) and I really trust her opinions when it comes to Fantasy since that’s her go-to genre and she’s talked about this series a lot on her channel.

Final Verdict: KEEP

feed

Feed by M.T. Anderson

I haven’t heard stellar things about this book but I do already own it and it is fairly short so one day I’ll just have to pick it up and read it and see if I like it or not.

Final Verdict: KEEP

wrathandthedawn

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I was actually really anticipating reading this… until I heard Naya from NayaReadsAndSmile’s opinion on this book. She went in-depth about the problems she saw in this book and that’s when I realized I didn’t want to read this book. If you want to know what I’m talking about, click here and watch it yourself.

Final Verdict: GO

So that was this week’s (segment?) of Down the TBR Hole! I’m happy with my choices for this week because I got rid of two books I had on there for a while and I feel better for removing them, even if it is only two books.

Have you read any of these books? If so, what’re your thoughts on them? Leave a comment and let me know!

lots-of-love

  1. I’m glad you decided to keep Shadow and Bone, I love that series and the world that Leigh Bardugo created! And I’m totally with you on The Demon King!!! Reagan talks about Cinda Williams Chima so much and I trust her so I’ll definitely read that one too one day! 🙂

    1. Yeah, I didn’t really want to get rid of it at first and it hurt me to say good bye to it, but I knew that if I do get to it one day, it won’t be any time soon. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed it though!

  2. I think two books is a pretty good achievement because I know how hard it is to let go of books that have been a long time on TBR list. Also, I wish you nothing but luck with your TBR 🙂
