Hello everybody! It’s that time of week again, time to tackle my TBR pile! I don’t think my pile has gotten any shorter because although I’ve taken some books off, I also haven’t stopped adding books to my TBR… but anyway, let’s get started!
Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
I really want to read this book! I’ve heard such amazing things about it and I’ve heard that there will be a movie with Emma Watson!
Final Verdict: KEEP
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
There’s a dragon on the cover. Need I explain myself further? Okay, but seriously, I really want to read this book, I just don’t think the time has come for me to read it yet, if you know what I mean.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick
I read the first book in this series like 2 years ago, but I do own this book so I will eventually get to it. I did like the first one, but I just haven’t gotten around to reading this one yet. I’m so bad at starting series and not finishing them.
Final Verdict: KEEP
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
I know, shame on me for this one. I have only read one of his books and that is Paper Towns and I thought it was okay, but I wasn’t mind-blown or anything. I did see the movie for this book so I do know what happens, but I do plan on reading it one day.
Final Verdict: KEEP
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
This is one classic that I’ve been dying to read (mainly because its so short) but I just don’t own it. Every time I’ve seen it in Barnes and Noble I’ve turned away from it because it’s like $10-12 for a paperback copy and its, again, so small! I want to find it in a thrift store or something for really cheap so I can read it.
Final Verdict: KEEP
The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien
This is the second book in The Lord of The Rings series, and I’m very slowly making my way through the first book. I’ll get to this some day, I promise.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
I own the first and second book in this series so I will read it! I just want to finish some series before I start new ones.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
So I really really really want to read this book, I just don’t own it!
Final Verdict: KEEP
Fire by Kristin Cashore
This is the second book in the Graceling series so I have to keep it unless I end up absolutely hating Graceling.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
So this book is actually on my list for Travelling the Pages, so I am going to try and acquire it (and hopefully the full series) this year some time and read it. It sounds so interesting.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Okay so… I’m pretty bad at this meme so far. There are just so many interesting-sounding books on my TBR so far! I don’t want to get rid of almost any of them! Hopefully next week there will be some books for me to remove from my TBR.
Anyway, have you read any of these books or are any of these books on your TBR as well? Please let me know!
Queen of the Tearling is being turned into a movie? I hadn’t heard! I’m trying to decide what to read right now and this was on my list. I’ve put it off for way too long myself!

I would say get rid of sequels and keep First books on the list…and then if you love Graceling, you could add the next book maybe? Just an idea to help whittle it down. I’m going to be doing mine and it’s going to be hard…I think that will be what I do unless I’ve already started the series.
Good luck! I’ll keep watching bc it’s interesting! 😊😊😊

That’s actually a really good idea! I mainly added it to my list since I own the book but I like your idea. Thanks 🙂

You’re welcome!!! It just seems like a way to keep the series without losing it, you know?
Good luck!! I’m rooting for you!
