T5W: Top Sci-Fi/Fantasy Books on My TBR

T

It’s Wednesday! This means it’s time for Top 5 Wednesday, a weekly meme created by Lainey @ Ginger Reads Lainey and now hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out and join the Goodreads group here.

Today’s T5W topic is books in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre that are on my TBR. Fantasy is my favorite genre, so it will be very difficult to narrow this list down to only five, but I’ll try. Also, before I start, do y’all like this little Top 5 Wednesday picture design thingy above? Please let me know! I’ve sort of run out of relevant Dan and Phil gifs to use so I thought I might try and make a banner thing to put at the beginning of these posts. Also, I decided that I’d just add books on here that I don’t own yet to narrow it down slightly.

5. Six of Crows by Leigh Barudgo. This series is so popular at the moment, it’s unbelievable. I do really want to read it and although I know you don’t have to read the Grisha Trilogy first, I would like to because I do own the first book in that series and I like reading books in chronological order.

4. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. This book is a newer release and it just sounds so interesting and unique. And the cover is beautiful as well, I mean, I could stare at this all day.

3. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. The last book in this series just came out this past month I think and I’ve had my eye on this series since the first book came out but I never bought it! I regret it so much and I really want to buy the entire series at once and binge-read it because I know I’ll love it.

2. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This is another book, like Six of Crows, that has so much hype. I don’t usually like hype all that much but some people who’s opinions I trust have loved both this series and Six of Crows so I really want to read them sometime.

1. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. Oh, look! Jay Kristoff is here twice. I need to start reading his books because they all seem amazing. I need to get on with reading this already!

So that was my post for today! I hope you enjoyed this! What are some Sci-Fi/Fantasy books you’ve been dying to read? Let me know!

lots-of-love

  1. I am very exited about Nevernight! I’ve read the grisha trilogy and liked it but not loved it, but I’ve heard better things about Six of Crows and I am just waiting to get the second book to binge read them! 😉

    1. A Darker Shade of Magic is pretty good. I just finished it a few weeks ago. I recommend it and know you will enjoy it based on your list! Its one of those books that your not blown away by right away, but you keep thinking about it for the nest few weeks and realize it was better then you first thought. Lol.

  2. Nevernight is on my TBR as well. I tried to read it a little while ago but the regular text and italic text was really confusing. I wasn’t in the mood to think while I read so I put it away for another day lol

    1. Good to know! ADSOM has gotten such good reviews and I’m really excited to pick it up some time in the (hopefully) near future.
