Hello everyone! I completely forgot to do this post last week but here I am again, ready to tackle my TBR pile! I decided to keep Inkheart from the last post because 1) I own the book already and 2) people seem to enjoy this book and the concept still interests me. Thank you all for helping me decide this because I was having a difficult time deciding myself.
Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
So I completely forgot what this book was even about, but I just re-read the synopsis and it does sound a bit interesting. A lot of people who’s reviews and opinions I trust on Goodreads seemed to like it so one day I’ll purchase the trilogy and binge-read it. But come on, these covers literally couldn’t be any cheesier (and this is the better of the two)
Final Verdict: KEEP
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
This book is on the list of books for me to read this year, and my sister read it and said she loved it, plus I got Maggie herself to sign and personalize it so I’m never letting this book go.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Maximum Ride by James Patterson
So this one is an entire series (that I have no idea how long it is or anything like that…) but I own the first book and I’ve heard a lot about the series. I just want to finish a few series before I start more.
Final Verdict: KEEP
I swear, I’ll get rid of some of these eventually….
Ruined by Paula Morris
This book is already in my stack of books I’m unhauling so I don’t know why it’s still in my to-read shelf on Goodreads. Anyway, yeah, I did promise I’d get rid of some of them.
Final Verdict: GO
Also, when I was searching for this cover on Google, there were so many abused and ruined books. My eyes are scarred for life.
Ruby’s Slippers by Tricia Rayburn
This book is also in my unhaul stack, so this one’s an easy choice as well.
Final Verdict: GO
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
I have so many classics on my TBR because I like classics, but I rarely feel like reading them. I own a copy of this book and I want to get around to reading it one day (maybe even this year).
Final Verdict: KEEP
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
I have a semi-good reason for why I haven’t read this yet. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to read this or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer first? Please let me know because I have no idea!
Final Verdict: KEEP
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
I will read this book! I read Dracula last year during the Halloween season, so this year I’ll tackle Frankenstein (it’s much shorter than Dracula, which is a monster… hehe, get it?) Plus, how pathetic would it be if I didn’t read my own ancestor’s most popular book? Yes, I’m related to Mary Shelley, according to my mother.
Final Verdict: KEEP
Slob by Ellen Potter
I picked this book up at a thrift store a while ago because I’ve heard some good things about it and I tried reading it maybe once or twice and just couldn’t get into it. It’s in my unhaul pile anyway so I already decided with this one.
Final Verdict: GO
The Dark Frigate by Charles Boardman Hawes
I actually got this book for free from my English teacher back in like 6th Grade. She said not to pick a book if we weren’t going to ever read it… and I still haven’t read it. It’s a classic pirate book that I just need to read one day, I just haven’t felt the urge to read it yet (and the rating on Goodreads isn’t too hot, either).
Final Verdict: KEEP
So that was this week’s Down the TBR Hole! Are there any books on this list you’ve read or that you would like to read in the future some time? Let me know!
Good picks! I loved UTNS!
