It’s Wednesday! Er… well, actually it’s Thursday, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do this week’s T5W topic! This means it’s time for Top 5 Wednesday, a weekly meme created by Lainey @ Ginger Reads Lainey and now hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out and join the Goodreads group here.
This week’s topic is fictional items that I’d give as gifts. There are so many, I have no idea how I am going to compile a list of only five. I’ll limit myself to one Harry Potter item and no items from Television or movies. I’ll probably end up with an honorable mentions section. Now, let’s get gifting!
5. Riptide from Percy Jackson
Who wouldn’t want a pen that can turn into a sword?
4. Time Turner from Harry Potter
There are so many different items in the Harry Potter universe that I would love to either give or receive as a gift, but ultimately I ended up picking the Time Turner. Not only does it send you back in time, but it’s also fashionable in an old, antique-y way.
3. A Stele from The Mortal Instruments
How cool would it be to be able to write runes on yourself to get powers such as stealth and agility? It’d definitely be an awesome gift.
2. The Firebird from A Thousand Pieces of You
The Firebird from A Thousand Pieces of You is a device that gives the wearer the ability to jump through different dimensions. Yeah, cool right? Only give this to somebody who has no evil bone in their body whatsoever.
1. Khopesh from The Kane Chronicles
A Khopesh is a real weapon, however, in The Kane Chronicles series by Rick Riordon, the Khopesh that Carter Kane uses has magical abilities. The khopesh seems to be magically enhanced in hardness as in the books the blade has displayed unnatural hardness. It can be used in casting spells. Also if stabbed in the ground the user can create a shielding spell in the form of a blue barrier of light.
The Invisibility Cloak from Harry Potter
The Marauder’s Map from Harry Potter
The One Ring from Lord of the Rings
Dragon Egg (or just a Dragon) from A Song of Ice and Fire
So that was my list of fictional items that would make the perfect gift. A lot of them are pretty dangerous actually, and would make the gift-receiver very powerful, but whatever. It’s Christmas, they won’t wreck havoc until after the holiday season, so you can sip your eggnog in peace until after the New Years.
What are some fictional items that you think would make the perfect gift? Let me know in the comments or leave a link to your T5W post for me to check out!
