Hype or Like Friday: Top Over-Hyped Books

Hello wonderful readers! Today is Friday, which means it’s time for Hype or Like Friday. If you don’t already know, Hype or Like Friday is a Goodreads group created by Jill @ Rant and Rave About Books, Britt @ Geronimo Reads, and Larkin @ Wonderfilled Reads. You can check out the Goodreads group by clicking the description below.

“A weekly meme created by three book bloggers after sharing their opinions about overly hyped books. Each week we’ll discuss everything from fantasy to contemporary, as long as it’s a hyped book everyone’s been talking about. This is a group created by book bloggers for book bloggers, booktubers, bookstagramers, etc. Whatever method you use to review books you are welcome to join.”

So this week’s topic is the top over-hyped books that I’ve read. I think this topic is perfect because of the group’s name and just overall there are so many books that’re hyped up and end up sucking or I just end up not liking as much as other people.

Answer the weekly discussion topic.
Optional: Discuss your chosen hyped book of the week.
Optional: Talk about your progress on the BOTM.

Okay so those are my top over-hyped books that I’ve read and thought didn’t deserve the hype. The top row of books (ironically) are books that I absolutely hate and they’re books that I’ve rated 2 or less stars (except for the first Divergent book). I liked Miss Peregrine’s and Passenger, but they weren’t amazing. I rated them 3 stars and still haven’t written a review for them. I’m so sorry about that, but I have a long list of books that I need to write reviews for, and I’m going to try and write them sometime this weekend so they’ll be ready for me to post throughout the week.

My Progress on the Book of the Month:

So I’m currently liking this book. It’s not amazing me yet, but I’m liking it enough so far. It has an interesting concept and the writing it okay enough, even though I find that the author jumps around a lot between the past and present without much warning. I’m 52 pages in, which is 14%.

What’re some of your top over-hyped books that you’ve read? And if you’re taking part in this month’s Hype or Like Friday, how far are you in the BOTM and what’re you thinking of the novel so far? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

I have Red Queen and Miss Peregrine’s still on my TBR, but I’m definitely not looking forward to reading them. I keep pushing them off more and more. I absolutely HATED Passenger!! I added that on to my list, too. It was probably my biggest disappointment of the year.

If I had to recommend either Red Queen or Miss Peregrine’s to you, I’d recommend Miss Peregrine’s only because it’s shorter and there’s pictures. Plus it’s unique unlike Red Queen.

See, I started to read it a few months back but put it down because I was so bored lol. I’ll keep it around though just in case I have the sudden urge to read it.
