It’s Wednesday! This means it’s time for Top 5 Wednesday, a weekly meme created by Lainey @ Ginger Reads Lainey and now hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out and join the Goodreads group here.
This weeks topic is books that I want to read in 2017, which I am really excited about because I have so many books that I would love to read next year that I wasn’t able to read this year.
“These are those books you meant to read in 2016 or 2015 or 2014 and never got around to. Those books that have been sitting on your TBR for a while, and you really want to get to. These aren’t upcoming 2017 releases; these are older books that need your love too!”
5. Legend by Marie Lu
This is the first book that I’ve ever added to my Goodreads TBR, which was November of last year. I’ve heard amazing things about this book but I just haven’t read it yet and honestly, it hasn’t appealed to me much. I did read Marie Lu’s first book in another series, The Young Elites, a few months ago and I quite enjoyed her writing style so hopefully I’ll get around to reading Legend next year.
4. A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
I had been anticipating this book for the entire year of 2016 until it was finally released last month, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it because during that time I was in a sort of reading slump and I wasn’t reading much. I will for sure read this book next year.
3. The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordon
I still haven’t finished this series. Shame, I know. But I will next year for sure. I promise! I love this series with all of my heart and soul and there are so many spin-off series that I need to read in order to catch up so finishing Percy Jackson will be one small step that’ll make a huge impact on me. I not only have The Battle of the Labryinth to read, but the last book as well, The Last Olympian.
2. Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Basically I would just like to finish book series that I have been in the middle of reading for ages. That’s my goal for 2017. It didn’t make it on this list, but I would like to finish The Mortal Instruments series next year too (If I’m not able to finish the last book, which I’m reading now by the end of December, that is). Beautiful Redemption is the last book in The Caster Chronicles and it will be great to finish that series and put it in the past.
1. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
I just want to see what all of the hype is about. I read A Game of Thrones because you hear about it EVERYWHERE, and enjoyed it so now I think it’s time for me to jump into Throne of Glass. I’ve heard the first book isn’t the best so even if I don’t enjoy it too much, I’ll still try out the second book.
