Today is Friday, and the second day of December, which means it’s time for a Hype or Like Friday post. You guys may not know what Hype or Like Friday is because it’s not too popular yet, but if you aren’t aware of what Hype or Like Friday is, it’s a weekly Goodreads meme/book club where every month the group picks out a hyped-up book and read it by the end of the month. Throughout the month, the group members answer the prompts set for each Friday. It’s a really fun group to be a part of and I think a lot of you guys will enjoy it. The group was created by Jill @ Rant and Rave About Books, Britt @ Geronimo Reads, and Larkin @ Wonderfilled Reads. They’re all amazing book bloggers and you can check out the Goodreads group here.

TOPIC OF THE WEEK:
Pleasant Surprise – What books did you read in 2016 that you weren’t expecting much from but ending up completely loving?
I received The Two-Family House by Lynda Cohen Loigman in the mail as my second ever ARC and it was historical fiction, which I don’t read much of so I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not. I’m happy to say that I was completely wrong. I loved the book and I am waiting for Loigman ton write more historical fiction novels. Another book that I was pleasantly surprised by was The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider. This wasn’t my favorite book ever, but there were nerdy jokes and geeky references that I appreciated because I wasn’t expecting them and they didn’t ever seem forced.
Now, the book of the month for December is A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Grey. Luckily, I already owned this book and it’s part of my Fall Bookish Bingo. I’m only a couple of chapters into this book (30 or so pages) so I haven’t made it very far, but I am planning on completing this book by the end of the month, as well as having a review up by December 31st. I’m going to be getting my stuff together and finishing what I task myself to do. I still have 8 books to read in order to complete my Goodreads goal for the year, which isn’t impossible, but improbable to think about because I have a lot going on this year (as a lot of you probably do as well). But, aside from that, I will finish this book this month and I will hopefully enjoy it because there’s an interesting premise and it would be nice to read a ‘Like’ book.
Now that’s all for this week’s Hype or Like Friday post. If you’ve read this book, what did you think of it? And are there any pleasant surprises you’ve read this year? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
