I Dare You Book Tag

So I was tagged in this tag by Lena from Bookfandom1001 to do this ‘I Dare You’ tag. I believe she created it, so credit goes to her. Now let’s get started!

-You must be honest

-You can’t not answer a question

-You have to tag at least four people

1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest?

Er… well I don’t know about my actual shelves, but the first book I added on my Goodreads shelf was Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

2. What is your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next?

I just finished reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children last night, and I am currently reading The Amazing Book is Not on Fire, The Ersatz Elevator, City of Heavenly Fire, The Fellowship of the Ring, Carry On, and A Storm of Swords. I’m not actively reading all of them (A Storm of Swords is on hold until next year). And I don’t know what I’m going to read next.

3. What book did everyone like and you hated?

Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card

4. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?

A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. I will read it some day for sure, but not in the near future.

6. Last page: read it first or wait till the end?

I believe what your asking me is if I turn to the last page of a book and read it before anything else. The answer to that would be no. I read the book in the correct order and do not skip ahead.

7. Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside?

I think acknowledgements are important in a book and I like reading them because then it shows how many people it truly made to write the book, and not just the main author.

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

This is really hard. I wouldn’t switch places with Harry Potter, but I would switch places with one of his children, maybe. Because then Voldemort would be gone and all that stuff.

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?

Harry Potter reminds me of my days in middle school, and how I would spend all moments between classes and every free moment in class to read the next paragraph at least of Harry Potter before the teacher told me to put it away. I was such a rebel.

10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way?

… I haven’t really acquired any books in interesting ways. I have won some ARCs from Goodreads but that’s about it.

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?

Uh… I’ve only given one book as a gift in my life and that was The Shining to my sister for Christmas last year. Great Christmas gift right?

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?

 Nope… never actually.

 12. Which book has been with you to the most places?

Um… probably Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets to the Universe and Me Before You because I took them both with me on a flight from Dallas, TX to San Diego, CA and then from the drive from San Diego to Los Angeles and then to Arizona before back to Texas.

13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad two years later?

Well I never read any of the required reading more than once but I bet if I tried reading Number the Stars now I would actually be able to finish it unlike in middle school where I just read half of it and pretended to read the other half.

14. What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book?

Umm… I don’t know! I’ve never really ‘found’ anything in a book before besides a bookmark.

15. Used or brand new?

My opinions on new or used books changes all the time. I love holding an older book and just think about how many people had read and enjoyed the book before me, but then again I love the smell and feel of new books and knowing I am the first person to own that book.

16. Have you ever read a Dan Brown?

Nope. I don’t even know any of his books.

17. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?

Well I really loved the Me Before You movie. Although the book was a 5-star read for me, I just enjoyed the movie slightly more.

18. A book that should NEVER have been published.

This is really harsh, but I’m going to say The Cursed Child ONLY because Harry Potter should be left alone how it ended.

19. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks being excluded from this question?

Every freaking time Harry and his friends have a feast in the Great Hall in Harry Potter. The butterbeer, pumpkin juice, sweets, chicken, and Sheppard’s pie and everything just makes my mouth water. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving you have no idea.

20. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?

Well I don’t really have anybody who reads as much as I do (excluding my Grandma) but she reads mystery books and I don’t so we don’t really recommend books to each other (but she did read Me Before You and loved it after I recommended it to her). But one person who’s book advice I always listen to is Jill from Rant and Rave About Books. She critiques every book she reads with perfection, saying how she felt about them with complete and utter honesty and I love that about her and her blog.

I’m tagging everybody who wants to do this because I’m too lazy to tag anybody in particular. I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know what you thought in the comments.
