Today is Friday, which means it’s time for Hype or Like Friday! If you don’t already know, Hype or Like Friday is a Goodreads group created by the brilliant Jill from Rantandraveaboutbooks. If you haven’t already, go and check out her blog because she’s awesome. Each month, Hype or Like Friday-ers all read a book that fits within a theme for that month. This month is Spooktober since Halloween is near, and the book chosen to read is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
Today’s Hype or Like Friday topic is“It’s locked”. This would be the scariest settings/places where you would not want to be stuck. I am a scaredy cat so I wouldn’t want to be stuck basically anywhere, but I will pick out spooky places and places I would just pee my pants if I were stuck there.
Being Buried Alive
Can we just talk about how freaking scary it would be to be buried alive? I mean seriously, you would slowly either starve to death from lack of food or slowly suffocate from losing air. There was this episode of Lost where these two people got bit by a spider and it caused them to become paralyzed. The other survivors didn’t realize they were paralyzed, instead thinking they were dead, so they buried them. Alive. Intense, right? Also, in an episode of Supernatural, there was this guy sort of like Frankenstein’s Monster, who figured out the secret of immortality by replacing his limbs with the body parts of other people (have a heart condition? No problem! That girl over there has a healthy heart, I’ve heard!). Anyway, the brothers couldn’t figure out how to kill the guy so they ended up trapping him in a coffin and burying him in the ground… yeah that episode scared the heebie jeebies out of me.
As you might be able to tell, I’m not a fan of small spaces. Elevators are no exception, especially since I’m afraid of heights (I hate the feeling of going up and down elevators, because I can feel every floor we’re passing). Not only would it be scary if an elevator got stuck, but what if it was haunted? All the ghost would have to do is cut a wire or two and BAM! Dead. Well, it is possible to survive that, I guess, but they can always close the doors on you (like in the picture above). I don’t know, I guess if I ever live in a large apartment building I will just take the stairs if I don’t have groceries to carry. A little exercise never hurt anyone.
“The Suicide Forest”
It would be scary to get stuck in any forest alone – especially at night – but the “Suicide Forest” would be even creepier. If you don’t already know, the Suicide Forest or Sea of Trees, is a 35-square-kilometer forest that is located at the northwest base of Mount Fuji in Japan. Aokigahara, the forest’s given name, even had a movie made about it starring Natalie Dormer earlier this year. It wasn’t very scary, and was a bit on the boring side, but that doesn’t mean I would want to go into that forest at night. There have been a reported 200 suicide attempts and 54 who have completed the act. Yeah… I would rather go to DisneyWorld for my next vacation.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Just writing this made my skin crawl. Are there any places you would hate to get stuck? What are some of your worst fears? Let me know in the comments below!
